Hello noob car owner here and car is Elantra 2011 (1.8L AT variant).

I had my car checked and according to the mechanic it needs to have the ff changed: Engine Oil, Automatic Transmission Fluid, Drive Belt and Spark Plugs.

Question #1:
- Ok po ba Aisin engine oil and ATF? Saw these in Lazada:
5W-30 full synthetic oil https://bit.ly/2UVVzYa
4L full synthetic ATF https://bit.ly/2CC2M8Z

Question #2:
- Any idea kung ano oil filter niya? Cartridge o element type? What size?

Question #3:
- Is it true that only 4L is required for ATF change? Manual says AT is 7.3L pero sabi ng mechanic 4L lang?

Question #4:
- San po kaya makakabili ng murang iridium spark plugs in Banawe?

Try VGT korean auto parts in banawe. Kia, hyundai, chevy mga products. You can tell them model of your car and they will check kung ano ang tamang piyesa para sa car mo.

Also, pwede din sa Fronte, a few hundred meters from vgt. Korean cars din ang products nila.

Aisin oils are ok specs and price wise.

For future reference,

RE:S. Plugs
Spark plugs are iridium. 40k is too early to change. Manual specifies changing at 168K km or 84 months. Even if driven under severe usage, 40k is too early for iridium plugs. Just inspect it if there is premature wear.

RE: Fuel filter
According to the user manual, Fuel filter & Fuel tank air filter are considered to be maintenance free but periodic inspection is recommended for this maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality.If there are some important safety matters like fuel flow restriction, surging, loss of power, hard starting problem etc, replace the fuel filter immediately regardless of maintenance schedule.

RE: A/C & intake filter
Never have this service at the casa. It's always a rip off. These are cheap to buy elsewhere and can be done at home.

RE: Coolant
Replace coolant First, 192,000 km or 120 months after every 48,000 km or 24 months.

RE: Transmission Oil
Check SEVERE maintenance schedule in user's manual. Hyundai recommends 120k km before changing transmission fluid.

RE: PSF & Brake fluid
40k km is too early for replacement at 40k. Manual only specifies inspection. Though personally every 3 years replacement of these fluids won't hurt since they are relatively cheap.

Labor cost should be reduced accordingly.

I just bought a used 2.0L gas M/T with 21k ODO reading. In my case I had all fluids and filters changed so that I can properly monitor them moving forward. I only spent 6.5k total, inclusive of 2.4k labor for the 20k PMS. I used Hyundai Xteer 5w-30 ultra.

I informed the casa that they cannot force me to buy stuff from them because that is anti-competitive / abuse of dominance, thus illegal. [emoji23] They replied as long as I use genuine parts and fluids within manufacturer's specs, we won't be having problems.

Hyundai owners can use Hyundaipartsdeal for part number reference.

Btw, AFAIK Hyundai uses electric power steering. Motor driven hence no power steering fluid.

Regarding coolant, RP casas advise change of coolant every 2 years. I always declined because I follow the "international" manual schedule. After almost 10 years nagpalit na ako ng coolant and to the surprise of my SA "malinis" pa yung coolant. I haven't had cooling issues. From 10 years, ngayon pa lang ako magchange every 2 years.

Nung nagpapalit sila, I found out that they use concentrated coolant and mix it with just tap water which is full of impurities. Yung ratio ng casa ko was 33:66 water as compared to Hyundai service manual of 40:60 water for tropical countries. I allowed them to flush with tap water, but I brought distilled water for the final coolant. I would rather trust schedule of international manual which was researched by the manufacturer. Next time I'll probably do it myself if I have a car ramp or bring extra distilled water even for flushing.

Best pangontra sa mga SA yung owner's manual talaga.

Yung sa 5x5 promo ng HARI kalokohan yung every 10k or 6 months spark plug replacement.

I do not trust dealers with this kind promos. These are not free but incorporated with the unit price. Tapos if you fail to strictly follow their terms you will lose the "benefit".

Pero it’s their loss, libre naman sa owners.

Ako, I’m happy for the consumers sa promo na 5x5. If I need a Sta. Fe, I’ll buy one. This is a good buy. Sayang lang yung old Santa Fe ko, it has been very reliable and has comfy ride up to now.

I had the same sentiment with Mazda's Yojin3. These companies are not charities. I would not be surprised if they will upsell the customer for services that are not needed for their vehicles.

Was trying to back read but could not find the answer to my question. I'm looking for recommendations on reliable car repair/maintenance shops that specialize in Korean vehicles...particularly Hyundai.

I have a 2010 Tucson and just need to get it checked plus serviced. I'm done going to the Casa...too expensive

Preferably shops in the Mandaluyong or Pasig area please. Thanks.
