March 3rd, 2003 03:40 PM #1Any general info about this car?
Naaastigan kasi ako sa porma nya. Just like the Hyundai Tiburon. Astig din to sobra.
Ilang variants ba ang nilabas dito sa pinas?
How much going rate for second hand?

I had a friend who owns a white 1998 Elantra. So far ok pa naman daw siya basta alaga lang sa maintenance.

March 4th, 2003 12:20 PM #3it's the best korean compact car produced so far. the engine is very durable and powerful, the suspension is sporty, the body is very strong and the sheet metal is thicker compared to japanese ones. plus abs, and 4-wheel disc brakes are standard.

Ganda nung Elantra GT..... even with moonroof, ABS, traction control, leather seats, at alloy wheels mas mababa pa rin ang presyo nya compared to other compact cars and it comes with a lot more goodies. Plus, it comes with America's best warranty - plugging ba?

Sa drivetrain lang yung 10-year warranty or 100K miles (whichever comes first). Sila lang din yung may 5 year roadside assistance kaya medyo tempting. The downside is hindi transferable yung warranty.

April 18th, 2003 10:53 PM #7The Elantra is a great car. We have two of 'em.
Variants.... Hmmmm... The Elantra comes in two bodystyles (maybe three), the sedan and the wagon. The Coupe is considered the third by some. 1.6l engines were available for the Elantras while the rare 2.0 was in the Coupe. Auto and manual trannys were offered. Only around 2000 Elantras and Coupes were ever imported here. Resale value is rubbish, but we bought them for 400k apiece  You might buy one for 150-250k. Coupe? 250-350k.
Be careful in buying used Elantras. NEVER buy the cars assembled by FMC.
Hope it helps. Any more q's, I would be more than welcome to answer them. :D

April 19th, 2003 10:28 PM #9Let me clarify something, Sun Tzu:
We have two Elantras: One that was CBU from Korea and one that was assembled locally and might have been for police use. My car (the CBU one) has a greeeeaaatttt air-con, fit and finish is good, and has very few problems. The other car has non-OEM parts, fit and finish is not good, paint is cracking, and other crap. Well, it's still reliable and still soldiers on well, but, it's air-con sucks.
Almost forgot to mention: We bought the local assy. one as a NOS at 2000. The CBU was bought at 1998.
