How's your Hyundai?! Just how reliable are the modern hyundais? Lets Face it, Hyundai has been suffering from a branding stigma that "hyundais are not reliable but its cheap"..... The kind of stigma that they are trying to shake off to date.. My Santa Fe was my first hyundai or korean car for that matter, and its not cheap... I bought it during the height of popularity of the toyota fortuner and the debut of the 3rd gen CRV which was both cheaper then by a few hundred K's than my santa fe.... I had my sights on the fortuner but had second thoughts after riding one... had put a reservation on the CRV, because my previous ride was a honda and simply had no complaints whatsoever with it. But again hesitant because a friend who got one ahead of me complains gas guzzling.... This made me consider my present ride, the CRDi Santa Fe.... My ride at the time(no bragging intended) was an e36 318i an isuzu pickup and ford ranger pinatubo. My Family also owns different japanese and european cars so why a hyundai?

Because at the time the sales rep at the showrooms is of no help why this thing is more expensive than its target competition, the internet answered my questions. So I gambled... Bought it and brought it home, still thinking if I made the right decision.. 5 years and 140K km later.... Im glad I bought this.... Through the years I learned more about this car and the company... I know now why its more expensive... the technology and materials used in producing this car is better than its competitors class equivalent. So Is it reliable? Hell yeah!! My ford and our toyota had more problems during its course of ownership.... I just hope that hyundai continue producing quality cars and HARI continue to improve their service... a big part of having satisfying ownership of a car is having a problem free after sales service.....

Reliable. It runs. But I broke my worn on 6th month, it honks by itself til the horn exploded. broke 2 studs on my spindle. one on each side upfront. AC filter had to be replace at 33tkms for it to blow cold 'air'(it's cool but got no air prior). Still, a solid car. 2011 Accent CRDi. Still runs like new and still spanks newer cars. ;)

I've had a 2011 1.4L A/T Hyundai Accent, so far ok naman, minor problems lang naman ang na encounter namin. Like central lock problem which already been fixed. No engine knocking issues. All in all it runs OK.Nagtataka ako bakit yun ibang car companies 3 years warranty lang?

alam mo ba kung bkit 5 years warranty?

para limang taon ka din nakagapos sa service nila. diba magandang marketing yun para sa loob ng 5 taon sa kanila ka lang magpapaservice kung ayaw mo ma void warranty?

We should also understand that warranty is a double-edged blade. For most of us car enthusiasts, it's often cited as a liability as it limits our modifications. But think about the majority 90% owners who doesn't modify their cars and simply want ease of mind? Take my younger sister for example kahit wheel alignment sa CASA ginagawa. It's not because hindi siya marunong maghanap ng wheel aligner sa Banawe but it's more of the "trust" issue. Can I trust this firm to do the alignment properly? What if lokohin ako nito? There's always the security fulfillment of knowing somebody is trained and authorized to tinker with your vehicle.

Never naman kami nagalala sa reliability. Most of our cars (80%) are Toyotas and Hondas. Both are still ass-kicking like our 150,000km second-gen CRV and my mother's Altis. Although my mom's Altis is showing signs of wear na like how her window fell off while I was retracting it pero given na yun knowing how banged-up ANY car will be under my mom's abuse (think na maskawawa pa yun kotse kaysa sa mga taxis) some poor habits consists of skipping PMS at completely-walang-paki-sa-kotse. In fact, because it's still in running condition right now.. I'm an avid Toyota believer.

As for my Hyundai. No problems so far with 11,000km on the odo.

Our march 2010 tucson now has 34K on the odo. and yes it has had problems already which for me are a testament to korean quality still not up to par,Major problem was a aircon compressor that the casa said had a stuck up pulley, I say major because if it happens while your driving it will shut down your engine and lose all power to the steering and brakes making you a candidate for an accident waiting to happen especially on the highway. Hyundai should recall all their aircon compressors and replace them before anyone gets into an accident, and ours isn't an isolated one a friend of ours has a 2011 tucson which stranded him going up the kalayaan flyover I also read hear about a genesis coupe having the same issue. also our brake switch too malfunctioned making the tranny not shift to reverse or park, had it changed and the new one lasted for a day and was again replaced so I've run thru 2 brake switches already within 2years.

My same sentiments, a notch lower pa rin hyundai compared to their japanese counterparts. Ive had a burnt aircon magnetic clutch in my 2010 Tucson CRDi GL A/T that was replaced after several weeks. A few weeks ago, my car stalled when going uphill. Noticed that the gear indicator in the dash was blank. Then would have more frequent difficulty in changing gears due to brake light switch. Casa didnt replace the switch but had the ecu reflashed/reset. Now everything's fine again so far.

Big problem is that we need a van for my growing family and there's only one choice, the Grand Starex. MAgiging 2 na hyundai ko! Sana hindi masakit sa ulo rin.
Di lang talaga maganda ang Super grandia. hehe

I have 3 Hyundai cars, my first one was an 05 crdi starex, still running strong until now, no major problems, sold it to my dad in law back in 2010 to get the GS. My GS is 10k old now and i haven't also encountered a major problem. Wish i could say the same for my 2011 a/t accent, in my first year of ownership, I've been having problems with engine knocking and incompetent after sales service from numerous dealerships, not to mention my aircon compressor, central locks and radio all broke down. Its all fixed now but still i went thru a year of hassle and stress.
In my santa fe so far, i replaced the airbag spring module and cv joints, other than that everything seems ok (hopefully).

Parang natatakot na ako kumuha ng Hyundai. Yung bang problem ni BKR5 hanggang ngayon sa mga bagong Hyundai models ay yun pa rin ang ginagamit na aircon compressor?

I would like to think that they are finding a solution.Hyundai Korea awarded Hari with a recognition for prompt filing of reports regarding their products. My aircon compressor was replaced with a brand new one hopefully these units are not defective anymore.

I'm gonna ask them about this but I don't think people at the branch offices will admit this. I hope they will and I hope they will say, "Yes, but new car models of Hyundai are now using a different air compressor, blah blah blah...'

Ewan ko ha. Pero parang na experienced ko yan once. Kapag naka on ang A/C parang sinisinok ang engine. Pero pag pinindot ko yung A/C. Syempre off ang compressor nun. Nawawala yung sinok niya.

We just bought a GS VGT 2 wks ago. last week, during heavy traffic, the aircon went hot during stand still traffic. When running, it's cold. We brought it back to the casa after that.
They checked it and suspected there is air in the system so they changed the freon. Went home, no traffic and raining so i did not notice any problem.
This afternon, i went out, it was very sunny and hot outside and the aircon acted again. This time, aircon is hot even when moving, but when i parked in a covered parking, it bacame cool again. Any suggestions gefore I bring it back to the casa? thanks.
