    Hi good day guys!
I just want to ask if any of you guys have seen, heard or experienced ur Tucson's Frame / caha thats bending when one of the rear tires is in an uneven surface, causing the doors to misalign?
A friend of mine who is also from Baguio, owns a 2.0GL eVGT Tucson is experiencing that problem. As of this point in time this issue is already a case filed to DTI since Hyundai La Union refuses to replace the vehicle, since they claim that it is "part of the design".

Can anyone shed some light on this topic?

    TIA!

Yes this is possibe since hindi ladder frame chassis ng tucson. Ladder frame chassis are more suitable to hard offroading/heavy loading. Minor offroading lang dapat mga CUV with unibody construction. Baka hindi properly nagamit ng friend mo.

so sir normal ito para sa tucson? pag gumagalaw kasi ung kaha nya, ung rear door nya nag oopen and ung front doors sumasayad. Also pati ung hood nya and grille gumagalaw din.
regarding sa hindi properly nagamit, hmm possible uneven kasi parking ng bahay nya, pero he is arguing din na hindi ganun ka extreme ang terrain ng parking nya.

BTW thanks for the quick reply

Na experience ko to recently lang nung nag park ako ng pa slant sa sidewalk tapos mataas yung sinampahan ko. Parang sumasabit yung front door driver side.

Some amount of body flexing is acceptable. However, it should not be enough to cause doors to bind or open by itself.

sir oj88 so is this case normal? maybe Hyundai La Union ddnt handle the situation well, kaya umabot sa puntong kaso na sa DTI. Anyway when the car's body flexes to a certain point, indoor lights turn on, including the rear baggage compartment light. is this still acceptable?

Sir ganun din naexperience ng kaibigan ko, sumasabit ung front driver side tpos tumutunog halfway everytime you close or open the door.

May problem na yan if hindi na aligned yung chassis, dapat na ma-check since safety concern din yan esp in cornering. Hindi normal yan na mangyayari if propery used yung ride at alam mo limits. Kaya dapat binabasa ang car manual eh. Kahit matagal na nagmamaneho. tsak may tsikot naman

relative of ours selling Hyundai Tucson GLS Engine 2.0L DOHC for 680k. Bagong model na to hindi yung boxy. Looks sulit kasi parang presyo na lang siya ng 2011 na subcompact. Is this a good buy? Anong FC nito? Not sure why they are selling pero di naman ako siguro ako lolokohin ng kamaganak

Normal ang ganyan sa unibody structure.

Pati sa Santa Fe nagkaka-ganyan din.

Going back to the original issue above. Where before I thought the flex is inherent and normal, doors that that open with a little body flex are dangerous, especially in a collision.

A stiff warp-resistant body is what enables the passenger cell of a car to remain intact in a collision. Take away that all the safety advances of the last 20 years, including airbags, belt pretensioners, whiplash-reducing seats, etc. are defeated.

Better inform the manufacturer of your problem. They can tell you whether or not your car has a manufacturing defect. It's probably not a design defect because the IX got 5-stars in Euro NCAP.

    Cheers

Sir this question just came out of my mind, is it possible that car manufacturers send "different" [lower class materials] vehicles to type c markets like our country? maybe in order to have more profits?

since as of this time we are not hearing any complaints about body flexing of tucsonIX from the US?

While generally true that ladder frame are better in these situations, CUV esp. the 3rd gen Forester has better chassis rigidity now.

In every rule, there's an exception ika nga so I am not really generalizing sir.

But for comparison of ladder frame vs unibody lang naman sa akin. Nothing against unibody chassis.

Actually, ladder frames are generally more susceptible to flexing compared to unibody construction. The Tucson clearly has a design flaw when the chassis flexes too much, preventing the doors from performing properly on an uneven surface.

Big difference in that Ladder frame may flex but returns to normal position while unibody once it flexed beyond its designed limits, may misalignment na permanently.

Again, the 2 design have their own pros and cons the same way that all cars do so as well.
