Just got my i10 last week. So far, I've been only getting 7-8 km/l fc in city driving (mandaluyong-makati). I even turn off the engine when stuck in traffic. Any advice will be much appreciated.

My Mirage in an extreme traffic also nets 7-8km/l, mostly 9s. 1.2L CVT akin.

based on experiences of my friends, they only get a an average of 10 kpl, for the same variant as yours. one of them averages around 11 kpl at pure city driving and around 14 kpl at pure highway.

but then there are several factors:

    a) driving style. since maliit ang makina, gigil ka sa acceleration to get power, resulting in higher FC.
    b) traffic conditions.

in your condition, malamang stop and go traffic ka....
anong oil ang gamit mo? baka mas magimprove pa kung fully synth oil ang gamit mo. tsaka anong fuel din ang gamit mo? sa akin kasi, i get lower fuel economy when i am using the lower octane variants (e.g. unleaded). so that is why i switched to the next octane variant (XCS, etc....)

yung ginagawa mo na patay engine will not work, but will accelerate draining of your battery, imho.

    thanks for the inputs

1 week pa lang ung kotse. If budget permits, I'll use fully synthetic sa first PMS. unleaded po gamit ko (tried shell, caltex and petron). so far ok ung petron.

Malakas sya if mild to moderate traffic ka lang. If compared sa Mirage, mild to moderate traffic could easily get it, 11-13km/l. Pero I've been using Shell Nitro Plus, mas matipid ako dun ng 1 km/l as compared when I'm using Petron XCS.

if i am using the lowest unleaded variant, my FC is at around 10.5 kpl.
if i am using the next variant, my FC is around 12kpl.
when i changed to fully synthetic, it increased to around 13 kpl.

try driving your car on an early sunday morning to see the difference with the effect of traffic congestion on fuel consumption

turning off the engine while stuck in the traffic is not a good thing to do because every time you start the engine it gulps 3 minute worth of fuel while running in idle. so the rule of thumb as far as this habit is concerned, if you think youll be stuck at least for 3 minutes then you break even with the gas consumption. you dont save on gas at all if you get stuck only for less than 3 minutes

additionally check your tire pressure, the stiffer it is the better your fuel consumption will be

Curious lang kasi I was in the market recently and tested both the Getz 1.1 M/T and the i10 1.2 M/T and ended up with the Getz. Di ka ba nasisikipan after switching to i10 coming from a Getz? Or was the switch because of the A/T?

Ako kasi parang nasisikipan sa i10. The getz is very roomy for a small car.

Ako May 4 nakuha i10 ko. 1.1 na AT variant. Before my 1st PMS, average kong FC mixed city highway driving 11km/L. After my 1st PMS, nakaka 14km/L nako mixed city/hway. Route ko everyday Pulilan to BGC to Makati.
