I have the same issue with my 2011 1.8GLS elantra. Parang nagkakaskas ka ng yelo pag pinipihit ang menobela ... Sinubukan kong alisin ang plastic cover ng steering column pero may ingay pa rin. Mukhang sa bearing mismo ng steering wheel ...

I have a 2012 1.6 Elantra which few days ago has a rubbing clanking sound in the steering wheel.
Since I bought it 2nd hand with the 1st owner not giving me the service passbook, there is no warranty.
I have it checked by the Casa and they said they will have to replace the whole steering wheel set which is 96K plus labor.
The service advisor said this is a common Elantra and Accent problem.
Are there cheaper alternatives out there? Aftermarket parts?
    Thank you for the help.

Tanggap ko na na kailangang palitan ng bagong steering wheel set.
Had it evaluated in Casa. Pero 96k is too expensive.
I'm inquiring if this part is available in Banawe or in other car stores.
I heard that this problem is common for Elantra and Accent.
    Thank you.

Macstar1, I hope ur car is covered by warranty.

Sabi ng officemate ko who used to have an elantra, common daw na issue yung steering coupling ...around 1600-2000 lang naman daw parts and labor ... I'm just looking for a reliable hyundai mechanic ... Pag sa casa e siguradong taga e
