Actually you are all correct * 1,600 kms pa lang tinatakbo nito! Even though its pure city driving it is a 2.0 alright

This is what I noticed pa, pag more that 3t rpms/shift mas mas tipid arnd 8km/liter (city)but if my wife drives it (bagal lang nun) 6km(city). I tried driving na naka eco all the time and to my suprise mas malakas nga pag driving economically. Wierd!

Sirs, I'm hearing a faint rattling sound when shifting gears (AT), and the rattling noise gets really noticeable at around 100kph...is this the dreaded Accent engine knock? 5k on the odometer.

Hydraulic valve lifter noise is normal for cold starts, should you want it eliminated or lessen the duration of the lifter noise you may wanna consider the use of 5W30 SN oil.

    Guys,

Meron na rin incident ng engine knock sa new Kia Rio as told by a friend of mine. Two week old EX 1.4 AT na nireplace na ECU. Iniwan lang ng owner yung car sa casa for 5 days. Kaso na charge pa sya ng 10K. Ito gusto kong alamin kung bakit, e under warranty yung sasakyan. Hindi pa natest maigi ng owner yung car after the replacement.

Back-out na sana ako sa Accent, then mag Rio, pero with the same incident balik pa ba ako ng Accent?

    Dilemma:

    1. Kia, mukhang mabilis magpalit ng ECU. Kaso may charge?
    2. Accent, mas gusto ko itsura. Kaso mahirap magpaservice?

With an engine issue as big as this-

Back out ka sa Gamma 1.4 engine.

Buy an Accent Blue, Elantra, Vios, City, Eon, i10, Civic, Corolla, Whatever.

    Peace of mind - Priceless.

Sir, paanong mahirap magpaservice? Kung walang pyesa, mahirap talaga iservice. You'd have to wait. pero once it's there, ok naman sila. Meron akong kakilala na spark owner, nabangga yung front, medyo malaki damage, sa tagal dumating nung pyesa, tumigil na sya sa pagbayad ng ammortization dahil di rin naman nya magamit yung sasakyan.

Kung bagong model yung unit (not a facelift), talagang ganyan.

This is probably also compounded by the fact that as importers, the companies in question receive the car as is, and must stock spare parts separately.

If you compare this to a company with a local plant such as Toyota where CKD kits are used (kahit hindi built from the ground up), some (not all, to be fair) parts in their wide inventory of parts will be easier to come by compared to the other companies.

On the topic of waiting for parts, I dare say that proper inventory management speaks volumes of the company's management. For cars where the initial demand has far outstripped supply (especially in product launches), this is understandable. But after a year has elapsed? Maybe no longer.

Guys, check this article from topgear. Unioil to roll out Euro 4 lineup of fuels this year - News | TopGear.com.ph

This might be the solution to this engine knock issue as stated by the retail manager of unioil.

    Hi guys,

Dun sa mga nakaranas ng engine knock, did the ECU update fixed the problem? I guess the EURO II?

I went to a Hyundai dealer to inquire Elantra and Accent. I mentioned the knocking problem sa Accent. They assured that it was an isolated case and can be fixed by the ECU update. How true?

I am on a hunt of a new car so I appreciate your response. Thanks!

^ marketing ploy lang nila yang isolated case, sa dami ng complainants natatawag pa nilang isolated case yun? Lahat ng stock ecu programming ng accent may engine knock. It can be solved by upgrading the ecu, however not all ecus are created equal. Some knocking incidents were solved and some would recur. It took me almost a year to solve my knocking problems and i had to use an iron fist for them to replace my ecu. For a brand new car its just not worth the hassle.

basta palit ecu then upgrade to euro 2. huwag mag update to euro 1 then euro 2, magkakawindang windang yan. ako pinacheck ko rom id, empre gamit laptop nila. tapos may recommended update na euro 2. sabi sa akin ng technician, papadala muna nila sa hari yung resulta ng engine performance ko. though minimal knock (paahon at di kabilisan) sa straight ok naman...
