Here's a recap of my gas consumption so far:
Pure Highway Driving:
- Total Distance Traveled: 165 kms (NLEX/Clark)
- Onboard Computer: 8.2L/100Km =
12.2 Km/Liter
Combination Highway & City Driving:
- Total Distance Traveled: 339 kms
- Highway: 165 kms (49%)
- City: 174 (51%) Moderate to Heavy Traffic (EDSA/Makati/Manila)
- Onboard Computer: 10.4L/100Km =
9.6 Km/Liter
- Manually Computed Consumption (After full tank refill):
9.5 Km/Liter
Based on this experience, I would say the onboard computer is pretty accurate as it closely matches the manually computed consumption.
Also, how economical your consumption will be is determined by how heavy your foot is on the accelerator and how efficiently you shift between gears. Try putting the onboard computer on the real time consumption display and you will see how much the difference is when accelerating heavily, particularly in low gear, and when cruising in high gear. It is also a given that your consumption will suffer if you are always in heavy traffic.
However, even if this drops down to 8 Km/Liter for city driving, I can live with it. It's just so much fun to drive. And people can't believe it's a Hyundai
