yan nga lang ang problema ng mabilog na starex, hindi pala basta-basta sa mabilisan ang ganyan dimensions. anyway I drove the starex at 100kph sa C5 Katipunan at around 10pm. may considerable # of cars on the road pa. mintik ako mabangga. hindi responsive ang body niya, parang may naiiwan pag swerving

kaya ingat kayo. the 2.5CRDi starex is very powerful and tempting but the body is its achilles heel

ah yeah. the CRDi starex, though with a lot of power, has a lot of body roll. the same can be said, when you compare it with the previous, "smaller-faced" models. they tuned the suspension for a soft/highway cruising-biased ride, to the detriment of handling. thankfully, the wide track, wide body and rear wheel drive somehow help prevent you from a bigger accident, but then the handling is not reassuring enough for you to push that far. scary. ingat lang.

The VGT added is a plus.

Starex is a good family van. Although it can outrun a lot of vans, do not race it.

And it's now available in the new Starex, right?

to add... mataas din kasi ang center of gravity nito dahil sa laki niya so hindi sya okay pagmedyo nagsuswerve ang takbo.

Yup, ganon nga. Plus, yun nga, malambot pati yung suspension, so body roll galore. Ganun din kataas yung Prado, pero di sing lambot yung suspension, so it gives you a better feel for the road and better stability. Either way tho, neither should be driven (and most especially cornered) like a sedan.

Lui, will the old Starex CRDI continue to be sold when the all new one comes? I am planning to replace my 02 Starex with the current CRDI. If the price of the new base model is more than 200K, I'd just settle for the current CRDI.

Saw the new Starex parked in Standout and reminds me of the Toyota Alphard.

    Ganda nga sya!

You are correct, that all new cars are initially registered for 3 years, but this is mandatory to new cars that were sold by KAMPI (car manufacturers/distributors) members. The parallel (grey) importers are only allowed 1 year registration. FYI.

Friend, I'm sorry to say but the new Grand Starex is priced by more than 300k on the base model. It is your prerogative to settle for the current model being sold by the official dealer but bear in mind that these are phaseout models already. Besides, the price is still more than a million and it will be greatly depreciated once the Grand Starex will be officially introduced even though you have only used it for a few months. The 300k additional is definitely worth it. See for yourself, there's no harm in seeing first before you actually decide. Goodluck!

I'm starting to see Grand Starexes on the road... grabe! Ang ganda! Even if it's more expensive, it looks like a great alternative to the Toyota Previa at the price point... mukhang European (VW / Mercedes) van na siya.

Sana maglabas sila ng cheap version...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

OO nga. SWB pati! Mas mura na, mas maluwag pa sa loob, mas madami pa benta nila!
Plis naman, sawang sawa na ko sa itsura ng innova at old starex ... magbigay naman kayo ng alternative.

Hyundai-Kia released a short-wheelbase Carnival after the release of the long-wheelbase one. I hope they do the same with the Starex.

Kino-consider ko din sana yung Carnival kaya lang parang mababa yung ground clearance eh. Bukod pa sa inaantay ko nga itong new Starex na medyo kabisado na namin ang reliability. Thanks for the tip though. Balak ko pa naman mag test drive na agad ng other units kung walang SWB na ilabas agad.I guess puwede din na LWB muna ipasok nila then pag ubos na yung stocks nila ng old model SWB 'tsaka nila ilabas yung new model SWB.
