    About the Range Rover's styling...

if you're familiar with Classic Range Rovers, you'd notice the link between the 2 SUVs...

But before that let me share first how we started the day. Our first stop is the Range Rover showroom in Makati I really have a high expectations on Range Rover vihicles but sad to say they're not getting my nod today. First of all the Range Rover looks great on T.V. but once you look at it face to face it looks like an old Pajero the interior and space is great but I need something modern and definitely will turn hot babe's heads. So the sale's rep suggested the new Range Rover Sport and they have a super charged version available, the thing about this car is that it looks like the anorexic version of the big Range Rover there's not much space. The trunk is too small and the back sit only sits 2 persons, not really the best place to make love into. So we move to our next destination in Ortigas the Volvo showroom I wanna check out the XC90 the first thing I noticed is that the sales rep are all female that's great but I smell something fishy about it, the XC90 looks great and the price is the knock out punch here its very cheap for a european SUV. But the problem is once you get inside you will notice with the interior styling and just the sense of the design that it is designed for female buyers there's just no musculinity about this car its like havin' a gay moment once your inside. I looked around and it did make it clear that all of the design of Volvo cars are for female taste.

So we hit the road for our next destination like I said my first choice is the Hummer H2 and my friend hook me up with this guy that own's a second hand yellow H2, that time I thought that this is gonna be it the H2 looks fresh and just by standing around it already drawing some crowd. The guy is excellent sales talker he did mention the good points but once I asked about the spare parts and the fuel consumption, it turned ugly. The minute of great sales talk turned into begging, I just noticed that he really want this SUV out of his life and it just turned me off so I did use the famous filipino escape phrase of "Babalikan ko na lang" and it came really handy. Im dissapointed with the H2 if there's only a dealer here in RP I buy that car right away, so my friend from TGM decided that we should visit the Porsche showroom in EDSA we got there and I see some 911's, Cayman's and Boxer of course we're here for the Cayenne, like the Range Rover a lot of expectations from the Cayenne and like the Range Rover it only looks good on T.V. you gotta have a taste like Manny Pacquiao to buy this car and Im not saying that Manny have a bad taste it just something you will buy if you have an instant cash. The design is absolutely pointless that car will never be a vintage like the 911 cars it is just ugly. We move to the last stop and it is not that far the CATS showroom and I'm here for my baby, the G-class Merc AMG. Sad to say there's no G-class on display the sales rep from Merc just showed me the catalogue. The first thing I said to him is that I want the " G FEETY FIVE AMG Silver!" Im just trying to be gangsta just enjoying the moment. But a moment of enjoyment won't last there's a lot of problem owning one, since there's no demand on this car they have to buy it outside the country and there's a processing and reservation fee of 300,000. Second problem is the waiting time of 2 to 3 months, Im really worried that I might lose my craving for the G-class when the time of delivery took place, it is just too long. The third problem is same as the problem on the H2 Hummer, the spare parts would have to buy outside the country and yes the biggest problem is the budget I told you guys my budget is 6-10 million and the price tag of the G-55 AMG with its V8 Super Charged engine is actually almost 12 million, options included. Now in that price range you can buy a Maserati GranSport or the V12 Audi A8 Transporter 2 car, I realize that Im really not desperate for this car. So I looked around and I saw the M-class, not that musculine but its modern and the silver looks great not really gonna turn chick's heads but I can put some loud stereos in it to make them turn their heads. After all I need a car that will transport me from Manila to my farm in the North and I don't need to spend that big money on car that is really great only in dreams.

Sounds like the M class won. Why didn't you just get a regular G500 if the AMG is over budget. As far as the H2, what kind of mileage did you think it was going to get with a V8?

M-Class I think..... the only question is whether it is the 320 or 350....

personally I prefer the BMW X5 over the M Class.... I've ridden the 320....not so funky for me...I prefer the ride of the Range Rover HSE with adjustable suspension over the M-Class....

any VW Toureg on our shore...the V12 Diesel trim of this truck (I believe this is the highest trim for this segment) surely will haul and kick some ass.... ohhh it will definitely turns the babes head as well especially if you starts to tow those road blocking jeepneys on top of each other on your behind....

Well, you have a dilemma. The G55 is a beast of a machine, but to be honest, it looks like something that served a tour in Africa during WWII. You and I know it's a sweet car, but you and I know cars. Then there's a Hummer, which is an abomination of a vehicle, but because for the most part the girls you would impress with cars have limited knowledge about such cars, will find the H2 damn near irresistible.

Now I HATE SUV's because I find them pretentious and essentially a giant sign that says "look at me, I'm compensating for my lack of manhood," but if I absolutely had to get one, I would consider and only consider the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. If you have to ask why, just buy a CRV and please go away. If they don't have the Turbo S in the showroom, just let them know you're serious about it, drop a deposit, and I guarantee they'll be scrambling to get you what you want.

In review: H2, retarded; G55, fugly; Cayenne Turbo S, for the win.

BTW, you're planning on dropping 10mil on a single vehicle, and not just any vehicle, but an SUV, and you're actually considering mileage to be an issue? Your priorities are pretty messed up.

If I we're given the same problem... I would probably choose a VW Touareg, a vehicle that shares the same technology with the Porsche Cayenne, but it's more discreet.

if i had a 6M - 10M budget for a new "vihicle"... maintenance, spare parts and fuel expenses would not be a problem! siguro in a few years meron na rin surplus parts ang hummer (from Iraq and Afganistan), or a change engine would probably solve the problem.

Civilian model H1 production ends this month because the diesel used does not meet federal emission standards for 2007, it's also the same reason why the Jeep Liberty will lose it's diesel engine in the US until 2008 or 2009.
