    from infiniti, i would buy the g35 coupe, i still think it's one of ***iest cars out there, other than the exotics. from lexus, i'd buy the RX400 hybrid, and from acura, i'd buy the TL, i like the way it looks, medyo medieval and dating.

    now it's time for me to wake up, dreaming na naman ako.

    if i just had to pick one, i would tend to pick the euro everytime. imo the driver dynamics and the engineering of euros (especially german) still beats the japanese luxury brands most of the time.

    however, the japanese cars usually win on value for money and reliability. if those are more important to you than the drive (which is true for a lot of people), then you'd be better off with one of those brands.

    I'd rather buy a Bimmer.

    Lexus = overpriced Toyota
    Acura = overpriced Honda
    Infiniti = overpriced Nissan

    aray ko! sakit naman. hehehe

    i only end up with one because of the deal i found. here's how i justified my "overpriced" fx over the other choices (about $5K difference). these are comparisons when we bought one in 2003:

    at least 40 more hp,better interior, better leather,bigger wheels, dual tip exhaust, power features (memory seat, mirrors, dash and steering wheel),safety (stability, antislip), longer warranty,reliability, rwd, bose, g35 loaner, still unique, etc...

    last, the deal was good enough to fall within our budget.

    Actually, there's a big diff between the Lexus ES & the Camry in interior appointments & ride quality. Of course, sa LS and Celsior there is no diff except where the steering wheel is.

    Yung talagang rebadge e yung LX470.

    Toyota LC Cygnus

    Toyota Land Cruiser 100

    Again, the LX470 is based on the Luxury version of the Landcruiser, the JDM Cynus and the previous generation Lexus LS430 was a rebadged Toyota Celsior, and the Toyota Celsior is a luxury car even if it was sold as a Toyota in Japan.
    Japanese have a great respect for the Toyota brand, even their Luxury range was badged as Toyotas in Japan, of course in export markets, its a different case. They associate Toyota with affordable sedans, economy cars etc.

    Last year they established the brand Lexus is Japan which is now a true global Luxury brand(including its home market).
    Another advantage to this? People can't call the new gen Lexus models rebadged Toyotas.

    yup...

    problem is that some people (including me) still don't consider them "upscale" as the more established premium brands.

    though if lexus, acura & infiniti start to price themselves lower than the other premium brands, then that would be worth a look.

    For me, the only thing going for those euro brands is image (or perhaps driving experience which is a subjective thing). There's no car out there that says you've arrived better than MB or BMW. That is, if you did manage to arrive at your destination in the first place. I mean what's the point of having a state of the art feature that no other japanese car manufacturer has if there's no guarantee it would work perfectly for the next 5 years? I'd rather have a car that is technologically a half-step backward compared with the germans but works properly for decades on end. As for image, filipinos are a car crazy bunch, most of them don't need to look at the badge on a long black saloon's decklid to know they are in the presence of automotive greatness.

    Some things you have to know...
    Old Lexus models were rebadged "Luxury Toyotas"(JDM Luxury range), this means that the old Lexus models that were sold as Toyotas in Japan are true luxury models.
    Now with the introduction of the Lexus brand in Japan, the all-new Lexus models will be exclusive to Lexus with no Toyota version.

    I wouldn't mind having a 300C(if I could afford one), looks cool and is one of the best selling large sedans in North America...

    the toyota camry/ES300? the IS300? the Landcruiser/LX470?

    there's maybe 10% differentiation between the Toyota and Lexus models of those cars.

    Qualtiy issues... didn't BMW overtake them already.

    Lexus' entry level luxury sedan, the ES300/ES330 is a rebadged Toyota Windom, the Windom is Toyota's Premium mid-size sedan based on the Camry platform.
    The new Lexus ES350 is now a Lexus exclusive model.

    Lexus' entry level luxury sports sedan, the IS200/IS300 is rebadged Toyota Altezza which was the premium RWD sports sedan of Toyota.
    The all-new IS (IS250, IS350) is now a Lexus exclusive model.

    The LX470 is based on the luxury model of the Landcruiser called the Cygnus. Its replacement will most likely be a Lexus exclusive vehicle, the Cygnus is currently sold as a Toyota in Japan and is not part of the new gen Lexus models released in Japan.

    ah, ganun ba. i didn't realize that quality was the barometer of whether a car was considered luxury or not. i guess Bentley, Jaguar and Rolls Royce, who have some of the worst quality issues in the industry, cannot be considered luxury by that definition

    and i know about the slight platform differences...that's why i said 90% and not 100%. there are some differences in suspension tuning and features (like the famous Lexus Mark Levinson audio systems) but i don't care to list them all. is it worth the $15-30k difference? that's up to the guy writing the check.
