hi, i drive a really old HONDA and i was wondering if there are any upgrades i could make on the engine in order to make it run a little faster? kahit hindi race quality, just decent speed and acceleration. thanks.

    Engine: D15b SOHC
    Car is a HONDA Capa

Most of what I posted are "breathing" mods. Your engine can exhale better but it has to inhale before exhaling.

Changing the muffler with a freeflow version will help increase power but you have to match it with intake upgrade too.

Pwede rin chambered muff so that the noise will be a bit lesser and will be evident mostly on high speed/high rpm's.

My custom made freeflow mufflers are designed to look stock but internally freeflow with matching internal piping diameter for the engine displacement of the car. Low noise at low rpm, louder at high rpm. Understated look.

sir ghosthunter paano gawin yung ignition timing advance nang hindi tumotope? ganun kasi gawa ko kaso pag 4th gear at bigla todo apak sa accelerator tumotope, ganun din sa 5th gear. honda lxi auto ko.

Just advance it until you get tope then adjust it back one or two degrees. If you want more advance, you will need to use gasoline with higher octane rating.

You can also check the fuel injector cycle, it might already be maxed out resulting in a leaner air-fuel mix resulting in "tope" at max or near max throttle. If that is the case, you can upgrade to higher flow injectors or increase the fuel pressure (adjustable fuel pressure regulators).

    160kph is still slow for a D15.

Anyway, did you check the setting of the cam when the new belt was fitted? It might have shifted a little, resulting in your current problem. Anyway, you can try the change in fuel first.

What is the original engine of your car? What is your Civic's body model ? (or year model?

100kph is still too low to be the max speed for a 1.5L engine even with an A/T. Max speed should be around 160 to 180kph.

sir, the car is all stock except for the intake which i upgraded to a K&N short ram. the original engine is a 1.5L D15b SOHC, and the car is a 1998 Honda Capa. Pansin ko lang kasi na smooth ung acceleration up to around 80km/hr, tapos biglang parang nahihirapan na ung engine to accelerate any further. so, ask ko lang if baka may sira ung ECU or un talaga ung max ng engine? and kung ano kailangan ko gawin?

Have you checked the usual stuff like fuel filter (both the inline and intank) and the fuel pump? Is the ignition timing adjusted to factory setting?

IS the exhaust smoky or clear?

the exhaust is pretty normal as far as i can tell. the fuel filter is brand new. the ignition timing is adjusted to factory setting. if i did an ignition timing advance, what will that do to the car performance? also, will a better exhaust system help increase the top speed?

i have a few theories although i may be wrong since i'm a noob at cars.
    1. exhaust system sucks
    2. fuel pump not applying enough pressure at high speeds
    3. ECU not working properly

    what do you think?

Given it's an old car, have you checked the in-tank fuel filter? Also check if the fuel pump is giving out the right pressure & flow rate. While there, the fuel line between the tank & engine should also be checked if it's clogged with built-up dirt.

Regarding ignition timing advance, assuming your car is working right, advancing the timing slightly will increase power output. Do it too much, detonation/pinging will happen. To avoid that (while keeping the advanced timing) you will need to use high octane gasoline. Downside, advanced timing will result in increased fuel consumption.

Maybe it's because of the automatic transmission.

Is that the one with VTEC and CVT Japan version?
