Important, check the performance of the car. Test drive the unit see if the transmission shifts properly, look for leaks and inspect the engine room. Bring a trusted mechanic along with you.
Also check the paper and documents of the car, see if everything is in order.
Good luck.

leave it on idle with aircon on for about 15 minutes while you and the seller talk. then check the temp. temp should not rise above half.
test drive! again, check the temp to see if it overheats while running... madali mag paayos ng kalampag pero pag nag overheat ang civic ng isang medyo matindi-tindi, the engine will be ruined and will never run sweet again no matter what you do.
did i already tell you to check the temp? check the temp while running, hehehe.

September 11th, 2010 10:13 PM #4You should accept the fact that there will always be risks in buying 2nd hand cars. What you're buying is definitely not 100% good condition, so I suggest you bring a trusted mechanic along to have the car thoroughly inspected. Test drive the car for about 15mins. Observe the gauges, the sounds, lights, accessories, the handling, the transmission, the temperature., the aircon, etc. OPen the hood while the engine is running and listen very carefully to the sound of the engine. Check for leaks, missing nuts or bolts. Check the belts also. Your mechanic will tell you the condition of the engine.
Bring the car to the nearest Petron Service station and have the car lifted. Have your mechanic examine all the things under the vehicle. Also, examine the body for any sign that it has been previously damaged by collision, or flood.
Finally, check the papers of the vehicle if they are in order
Good luck
IIRC they're with AVID. The reported numbers in the TG article are from CAMPI.
