get what you love, pero ang mas mahala, love what you get.

Honda ESI? mga 94 model? I don't know, pero parang sa baguhang driver oo ok yung ganito para masabit man ok lang ang kaso, matanda na yung kotse, siguradong maraming tinatagong sakit yun.

Consider that old cars will have old car problems. So the older the car you choose, the more issues you have to deal with wear & tear aside from other problems.

On the flip side, owning an old car will teach you a lot about car care, maintenance and repair. Excellent training for your future vehicles.

One thing owning an old car will teach you is that it is better to have a younger car. An old car might be cheaper to buy but fixing it may get expensive and reliability at critical times will be an issue.

For me, mahirap ang siraing kotse lalo na kung if it's your only car.

If not medyo okay lang pag-aralan.

But for the TS, I think it would be good to buy a really affordable subcompact, lalo na kung first car. Mahirap matirikan ang baguhan. Towing and repairs might cost you an arm and leg. Lalo na kung greedy yung mechanic.

No one wants to buy a car that breaks down often but I have seen some used car sellers who have fixed up a problematic car just enough so they can sell the car and leave the expensive problem (or recurring problem) in the hands of the new unsuspecting owner.

Example, aircon compressor leaking freon but takes a week or two to empty. The seller will add freon to the aircon on the day a potential buyer will check the car and then again on the day the buyer will purchase it. The buyer will only find out the problem after one or two weeks when the freon has run-out of the AC system and leaving him with a repair that will cost him between P12,000 to P20,000 to fix properly.

Another example, on first test drive of an A/T car, shift shock is a little too much to be normal. Seller suggests to have the problem fixed if the potential buyers would come back again. After a week, the seller lets us test the car again. The shift shock is less but still there. And it's still more than what you normally get from even a ten year old A/T car in good condition. I advise my friend not to buy the car because of suspect tranny issues. We walk away. Later we found a similar model car in better condition and no mechanical issues.

Ive been a fun of old car, mga 95 to 97 model. Oki naman.. Ang advantage lang is halos wala akong depreciation cost. Kasi I got the car lower than market value the I maintain it and use it then sell it a notch Higher than market value so more or less yun yung maintenance ko.

Between Esi and Hatch naman..

go for vti sir ehe. 96-97 kung tight ang budget, vtec na kasi ito, or lxi if mas gusto mo makatipid sa fuel.. and stock appearance lang nang sedan na to maporma na, and EFI na sila compared sa hatch..

Re: maintaining and repairing an old car... Marami nga akong natutunan with my old lancer.. Took me years until i found reliable and trusted mechanic, electrician and aircon/radiator guy (3 sila). Also where to get reliable parts.. Bnew (replacement) and surplus parts na di taga and good quakity naman w warranty. Sure, at least once a year i find myself having to replace or upgrade something, but cost is relatively minimal. Kaya ko na rin tune up sarili and so minor repairs...

Pero now im about to get a new car myself, iba na rin.. Back to zero na uki bec i wouldnt k ow how to handle this new engine, syempre PMS muna sa casa for several years and i will hesistate to let my mechanics to handle it..baka bago pa yung model di pa nila kabisado... Parts will have to be original and sure to be more expensive than the parts im used to...

So may downside pa rin new car...hehe...

Para di OT masyado: for the TS.. Di mo yata na mention exact budget nyo?

agree also with sir kyleryner... owning a 2nd/3rd hand car prompts you to have a trusted mechanic, trusted auto electrician, trusted aircon shop, and trusted body painter and repairman..para kung may konti gasgas, dents, may tatakbuhan ka for immediate repairs and hindi ka tatagain.

indeed every thing has corresponding consequences be it an old car or a brand new one.. yeah magkano ba budget mo bro?

help me choose my first car
