you bought a car with that "real time awd" for a reason. why remove it because of the recommendation of a "mechanic" who probably can not even read and comprehend english. he might have been wrenching all his life, but that's probably all about it. the awd/4wd systems come in different modes. there are part time 4wd where you only have two differentials-front and rear, there are full time 4wd with three differentials- front, middle and rear- comes with center differential lock, and the real time awd- where the rear diff like yours, engage when there is a noticeable slip of traction in the tires. to make it save fuel by disconnecting one system is synonymous to having one of your kidneys removed to lose a few pounds of your body weight. it is your vehicle, the decision is yours and consult with someone who is thoroughly knowledgeable of what they do not that of some one who have been a grease monkey for years

That's the reason why I'm spending hours of browsing here in Tsikot.com to find a reputable and reliable mechanic that will help me to get rid of my problems.

define "unnecessary sounds". describe, explain, clarify and make comparison as to what kind of "unnecessary sounds". when does it happen, is there a particular pattern, is there a particular frequency, is there a special condition when this "unnecessary sound" occur. of course, as with any sound there is an accompanying vibration, how bad is the noise, vibration and harshness. is there a part of the vehicle that the vibration and noise is more noticeable. are your tires normal? have you tried rotating the tires? have you checked your fluid levels? is there a missing balancer weight from the driveshaft? make a visual inspection first.

so there are two distinct abnormal noises. one humming which can be caused by a loose fairing underchassis or a loose exhaust system hanger, or a missing harmonic silencer at the final drive of the transmission or a worn out transmission mount. the other noise, "tok" could be a worn out shock absorber bushing or worn out suspension linkage bushing. these problems could easily be pinpointed if you thoroughly inspect the underchassis

humming sound... maybe your wheels need to be aligned or replaced if you mean the road noise is loud. as for the tok sound... maybe the trailing arm bushing needs to be replaced already. Just bring your car to a casa, assessment is free and they will most likely tell you what the real problem is more than that shady tech. While at the casa maybe get the promo on brake cleaning they will then have a solid reason to be checking your suspension area.

"Real time 4WD" not advisable to remove. Its for your convenience & safety.
Kung fuel economy, there is no big margin sa consumption.
Tungkol sa noice, better check 4WD system. there are bearings that trigger the 4WD real-time. maybe need calibration/lubrication/replacement!

all responses where done assuming your tires are of the same size, age and condition. another thing to check will be your u-joints for binding and lost lubrication.
