    Sirs,

I have a HONDA CITY Lxi '98 model. My problem is that I'm loosing water in my reservoir kahit short trip lang. Someone advise me here na palitan ko yung radiator cap, and I did. I thought this will solve my problem kaso hindi po eh. I think it does not solved the problem eh.

    Im thinking of the following:

    1. Use coolant first, check if magbabawas pa din yung reservoir. Kasi alam ko pag may coolant, hindi mabilis mag evaporate yung water pag may coolant. Tama po bah?

    2. Ipa overhaul ko yung radiator to check kung barado or may tagas?

    Anymore advise sirs???

you might be overheating. your aux fan might be malfunctioning. the radiator water overheats, becomes steam and bubbles into the reservoir can. too much steam causes the reservoir water to boil away.

same situation w/ my civic vti. i'm having trouble spotting the leak that's why my mechanic advised me to use coolant so that wherever the leak is, it'll leave a mark or a stain, thus isolating & spotting the persistent leakage. kasi kung tubig lang ang gamit, walang marka na-iiwan

Losing water in the radiator ??

I had several experience like that situation, I had changed the radiator cap, no trace of water drips, the culprit is the water pump, the leak will appear only when the engine is running, Try to check that.

Any more possible causes sir sa problem kong toh? As i've said before, nagpalit na ako ng bagong radiator cap, yung replacement lang.

Make sure that you don't have any leak in your system. And they sometimes appear lang kapag mainit na yung cooling system where it starts to build up pressure. Bumibigay ito earlier than the cylinder head gasket. Kung okay naman sya. Do a little experiment, yung reservoir may relief line iyan, saluhin mo ng container. Kapag tuloy tuloy ang tapon dyan, then it might be the cylinder head gasket na. The combustion gases leak into the coolling system at itinutulak ng gas yung tubig. Don't let it come to a point na magoverheat ka. Use coolant additives as it will protect your system and prevent scales from building up. Do use distilled water, kasi ang tap water may minerals pa rin that forms scale. Hope this helps.

sir, bale 100+++ kms na tinakbo eh, hindi kasi ako ang first owner nito.....anyway, kakapalit ko lang kasi ng timing belt 2 weeks ago, pati yung water pump nagpalit na din ako.....so i dont think there is something wrong sa water pump....dont know lang kung may leak dun....
