    former owner here.

to put it simply, your new baby can go as fast as you dare.

i don't know if the v has a speed limiter, but i remember reaching speeds in excess of 150kph on the old nlex (wala pa slex nun e). that was as fast as i dared, fully laden. pero may ibibigay pa yun. and i was running 225/70 all terrain tyres din nung time na yun.

if you want super fast speeds on your v, lower it, and buy wider rims, low profile tires so the car rides lower, at safer center of gravity. the height and standard tyres of the v are its limitations (not the engine... malakas ang b20 kahit walang VTEC).

    THanks voltscastillo..

Parang tagal na po kwento mo hehehehe.. what i mean matagal na kayo dating owner ng Crv .

what model po ng V ninyo dati? kasi as i know may diff. ang engine ng 97-98(b20c) and sa 99-2001(b20z) w/c is 20 hp more.. so mas mabilis ang 99-01 ng unti, correct me if im wrong...

im excited to try it to 150 kph hehehe kapag uwi namin sa Zambales.. daan kmi NLEX and SCTEX.. pero tingen ko 140 kph lang muna kaya ko now sa expressway nakakatakot na sobrang mabilis eh!! and speed limit hekhek..

I think imposible pa po mods. ko ung Crv namin kasi sa Tatay ko po un e , ako lang ang driver niya minsan. wait ko nalang siguro bigay saken ung Crv or ibili ako hehehe.. THANKS AGAIN

the b20z has a flat intake, compared to the older b20 with a "giraffe head" intake.

inflate your tyres to 30 psi and change the oil and spark plugs to specifications (part number ng crv spark plugs begin with ZFR-, NGK brand. if you use regular spark plugs na ginagamit sa civic, medyo hindi maganda amoy ng exhaust, amoy gsolina na hindi nasunog).

sisiw ang 150 kph jan. but do be safe about it. do not try running at such speeds pag kalbo na mga goma mo.

im aware naman about those thing na dapat check muna lahat sa car before hitting the road especially long drive like out of town.. and defensive driver po ako namana ko ata Dad ko na super ingat talaga mag drive parang tatang hehe.. pero alam mo na po minsan gusto natin may thrill..

siguro by december ko na matry mag 140kph or 150 hehe on our V kasi may kalumaan na ang gulong and magpapalit kami this december pa.

about the sparkplugs: we just replaced it last august 27, 2010 ..

    and to share narin:
pag kuha namin ng auto (CRV) hay ang DAd ko pinalitan lahat ata ..........first sa makina change oil agad, coolant, engine support, airfilter, timing belt, tensioner, idle bearing, crank and camshaft correct me if im wrong ..

your dad was correct in replacing all those things. but there may be some things he may have missed:

    1. use only honda atf-z1 for the automatic transmission AND rear differential fluid. kung manual transmission naman, use 10w-40 engine oil sa transmission and honda atf-z1 sa rear differential. if you use any other type of fluid sa a/t at rear diff, you will break them, guaranteed (subok ko na 'to and lots of my friends had to learn that the hard way).

    2. the valve tappets and timing must be adjusted to casa specification clearances. di pwede yung sa kung saan saan talyer lang. pag mali ang adjustment (nangyayari ito pag hindi marunong yung naglagay ng bagong belts at salpak lang ng salpak) you will lose power at iingay makina. at pag nagpa timing, iniikot ang segunyal by hand.

    3. valve tappets and timing must be adjusted every year. sakit na to ng mga honda of that period (i had 4 hondas at pirmi akong nagppadjust nito. abala, pero worth it naman).

    4. if you want more power, clean the throttle body.

    5. replace the engine thermostat and thermoswitch controlling the cooling fans. mag overheat lang yan ng isang matindi-tindi and will never run properly again.

all weather bulbs gamit ko lang nun yung bulb na nbili sa autosupply eh. ok din naman. i hear narva all weather and osram nightbreakers are good, though.

the v is a fine car, it will serve you well. just always remember na hindi dapat ito magoverheat (kahit anong honda naman ganito eh). iba talaga ang power ng honda engines (iba ang design nila, hindi sila kagaya ng toyota/mitsu/nissan)... kaya dapat alagaan ng mabuti ang makina.

Sir where po kayo nagpapaadjust ng timing belt and tappet? sang casa po kayo nag papagawa? baka dun narin namin pa adjust if ever.. and how much it will cost? and manual po V namin..

panu din po malalaman kung sliding clutch na po and tuwing kelan po dapat palitan?

about sa engine oil ano po magandang pang change oil?

Thank you po sa lahat ng advice it helps a lot..

siguro po sir ang bait nyo hehe.. ok lang po ba sa inyo na mag tanung pa?...

    no problem.

990 petot ang pa adjust ng tappets at timing sa casa. standard price yan nung 2005 when i sold my crv... hindi naman siguro namahal ngayon i hope.

clutch, i wouldnt know. bought my crv brand new and until i sold it 6 years later maayos pa hatak nya. i owned a silver manual transmission crv nga pala, plate number W****6... baka sa inyo napunta hehehe.

engine oil, i always used 10w-40. masyado malapot ang 20w-50, although pwede. nabasa ko somewhere na sa lahat ng engines sa buong mundo, pinaka superior ung oiling mechanism ng honda engines... so imagine kung super lapot ng oil na gamit mo, parang humihigop ng slurpee ung oil pump nyan, sayang naman ung superior oiling mechanism, hehe.

i sold my v because tumatanda nako at nakakapagod magdrive ng manual. lalo na yang crv, matigas ung clutch at mahaba ung throw ng gear. maganda lang sa manual, pag apak mo at first gear, sibat talaga sya.
