sorry Alwayz_yummy hehehehe. Ako din 26y/o lang and i drive a galant. The day i got the hand, and foot on the galant, you feel the HP with the slight press of the pedal, also very stable in high speeds.
Taka ko lang, both SIR and Galant with their high HP, doesnt have air bags. Sguro to cut prices na rin

Yup, sayang nga na walang airbags.

In the Galant's case, understandable, ang taas na ng prices ng mga midsize cars (due to taxes), so they had to cut corners where they could.

For the SiR, well, Honda had to cut corners to bring the price down, as the B16 engine is relatively expensive. If the SiR was equipped like similar top-of-the-line compacts of its time, it would've cost nearly 1m... a price that people at the time (when top-of-the-line cars cost only 750-800k) would probably not pay for a car of that size.

Heck, even the VTi lacked amenities, and it was priced in the high range.

Nanalo ng Car of the Year kaya panalo to!

7th gen, 8th gen Galant VR4 are equipped with this:

    and only that!

so kung LOCAL NA 7th-8th gen vr4---ITS A BIG FAKE! VERY BIG! HYPE LANG NG MGA SELLERS... AT WALANG VR6 ANG MITSU.... VR6 IS THE TRADEMARK FOR VOLKSWAGEN PERFORMANCE V6 ENGINES....

niky, actually, limited to 180kph top speed mga JDM VR4 galants because of the ECU. but you can always have it reprogammed to remove the electronic speed governor

Haha... so talo pala ng mga 1.5 yung VR4? I can see it now... a 250+ hp VR4 flying down the NLEX, overtaking a Vios going 120 km/h, and a few minutes later, as he's pinging the limiter, the Vios walks by him...

Was the old Skyline limiter also 180, or was that 200? Insane to have a limiter set that low on such a powerful car! I remember the 180 km/h limiter on my SR20 before... bad trip... spent all that money on a swap, only to be defeated by the speed governor... ahhh... those were the (irresponsible) days.

Yung Germans yung may 150 mph limiter.

That's what's nice about the SiR and RS... no speed limiters... you can modify an RS to go fast enough to blow the engine (revving at 6600++ rpm at 220-235 km/h)... oops... what were we saying about 4-cylinder reliability at high speeds?

even the R34 GT-R, in stock form, was speed limited to 180kph.

  11. #51
kung 2.0 ok pa, and you'll be consuming lesser fuel than an 1.6, kasi di mo masyado tinotodo ung gas, sisibat na (experience ko sa maxima ko), i barely step on the gas just to maintain a 80-100kph run on NLEX.

2 cars have their own purpose...pero, honda doesent have an entry in WRC/dakar, so as mitsu: no F1 and the like...

kaya hirap icompare....pero di ako matitinag dito parin ako:

but the beauty with DSM ECUs (and other ECUs for that matter) is the programming capabalities they have. magburn ka lang ng new program, tanggal na agad yung speed and engine limiters!

    alwayz_yummy,

if we're talking LOCAL cars only:

    Galant (4 or 6 cylinder):

pros - roomy, nice suspension, nice interior, midsize sedan, relatively cheaper to buy 2nd hand, bigger displacement engine, comfortable ride, A/T available

cons - gas guzzler (for a local car), expensive parts, scarce aftermarket parts, poor resale value

    SiR:

pros - great engine, abundant and cheap parts, great aftermarket support, very good resale value, good driving feel, good gas mileage

cons - weak stock brakes, uncomfortable ride (too rigid and sporty), expensive for a 2nd hand car, no A/T available

*IMO if you're into racing you probably wouldn't want these 2 cars anyway so i'm guessing it's to be your daily driver. take your pick. my 2 cents:

1.if you're single and don't plan on having too many passengers along for your trips, definitely get an SiR. added bonus would be cheaper parts and better fuel mileage.

    2. if you're a family man and/or you often take people along with you on trips, definitely get the larger, roomier and more comfortable galant. the added fuel expense and maintenance costs would be worth it.

    eto yung manual:

    eto yung matic invecs2:

yah gas guzler talaga siya when comparing it sa 1.3L or 1.6L compacts....try comparin it to ES civic 2.0, a lynx rs, a MZ3-2.0R or a 4g63/b18c swapped lancer/civic...di sila nagkakalayo-->root of error of consumption comparison!

expensive parts yah, kahit naman corona or accord or cefiro man yan! as the rule supply and demand, anu ba marami lumalabas sa casa: compacts! anu ang cheaper to buy 1st hand: compact --> again another root cause of error in comparison!

and you forgot, much stable ang mid sedans kaysa sa kahit anong compact especially at high speeds.....stock ha!

SIR: good gas milage? almost kakonsumo nyan is 1800cc or 2.0! kasi your flooring it to have power, otherwise, masmatakaw siya sa typical 1.6L

cheap abundant parts: well, isipin mo why:alin ba madami compact or mid size???

great aftermarket support: hehe, even fiberglass make fake chins..daming ricers!

very good resale value...well, pinoy mentalidad na yan....honda mahal, prestigous daw... ok, SIR limited production, pero to the enthusiast, bibili nya kahit mahal, practical persons, 90% hindi....

good engine, but definately not a great engine!good driving feel--> well subjective, 1 thing for sure feeling gwapo ka pag SIR dala mo..aminin

as stated above, explaind ko na why cheaper at madaming parts ang SIR over the galant!

i am a family man, pero ayaw na ayaw ko na magmumukhang driver ako, it doesent mean na ayaw ko sa SIR, over hyped lang ang SIR kasi siya lang nag boast ng 160ps, na di naabot ng mga 2.0L japs in its time..pero only on paper! and HP sells more than torque..for everyday use torque is of more value than HP!kaya sikat SIR, pero ang di alam ng karamihan, ung sasakyan on the road..pag sa paper ka lang nag compare, parang naglaro ka ng "trump-cards" lang...

RE: SiR consumption... not quite 2.0... but not quite 1.6... same as a 1.8, I guess, if driven conservatively.

But modified? If you've got wild cams, type-R parts, computer tuning and a full exhaust, you can drink gas like an SUV at full throttle.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
