It's not taking the US formula to PI, honda is just filling the gaps where there are gaps. That's expanding the market, but for 40 units/month, that's nothing to the entire sales of the vehicle. People who can afford will buy and people who can't will not. What's the problem with that?
Again, you're showing how little you know about local conditions.

Know what sells the Civic in the Philippines? "Exclusivity"

It's because the Civic isn't used as a taxi, it's viewed as a rich person's car in the Philippines.

In the US and Canada, the Civic sells because it's cheap.

In Japan, the Civic is dead. Simply because it's too expensive.

40 units a month? More like 40 a year. That's about how well the Pilot sold last time it was offered. And when it was offered, the new Ford Explorer and the CX9 weren't out yet.

Granted, the Odyssey, since it's prettier, has a better chance of succeeding and might actually hit around a hundred units a year... but forty a month is a bit optimistic.

If Honda has to import showroom units, that represents a big expenditure in marketing, stocking and dealer incentives for very little (if any) profit.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I like it when you explain things. Good for hyundai, and good luck for their owners. As far as i am concerned, as long as i am happy with my van, that's what matters. And i own it, so i have the first hand account, not hearsaying things, just facts.

Previa?Overpriced naman yan kaya wala nang bumibili nyan..Imagine 2.5 Million Pesos for a 2.4 Liter van at magiging 2.6 Million na pag dumating ang 2013 variant!

Pajero?Nagmahal nanaman tapos same rims parin kahit nabago na ang grille at bumper!

Mga 40 units a month ng Odyssey ang malamang mabenta ng HCPI..Though don't expect na magiging mabenta yang Pilot..

nasisiraan na ng ulo ang Honda Phils. they're taking the Nissan Route, yun US sentra dinala din dito for a price 1.1M.

akala siguro nila by associating it with Japan CBU or USDM, magkakaron ng premium ang price nila vs. the Koreans. and like Nissan's mask rider black sentra na bagong labas na civic ngaun na sobrang bland, Honda is Nissan in the making.

magtanggal kayo ng mga empleyado, that's the reason why hindi nyo maibaba ang presyo nyo. too many people employed over a business model that pinag-aralan ng husto ng Koreans. yun PAL nga ganyan na ginagawa para lang maka-compete sa CebuPac

I've ridden the Honda Pilot from L.A. to San Diego Sea World. nothing special, walang pinagkaiba sa 2005 Ford Explorer EB namin.

or better yet take the diesel route, dyan nakilala Hyundai eh. may diesel line-up naman Honda, bakit di nila i-offer dito.

Where's the "Hyundai" in Niky's post?

Insecure ka ata sa Hyundai eh. Bad for you

Sa totoo lang nagtataka nga ako kahit bugbog ang mga Hyundai namin hindi nasisira eh... so no need to say good luck to Hyundai owners. ;)

What's wrong with the goodluck wish? I never meant it to be bad, i think it's your perception? I will notbe insecured with hyundai, whatdo i care? It's your car not mine.

If priced at P2.0M, Honda Phil wouldn't be receiving so much flak right now. Greed and prestige aside, Honda Phil and the Odyssey have become casualties of the way CBU US are taxed (is it 100%?).

In the US, the Odyssey EX-L starts at USD$ 35,025 (MSRP) which is about 1,513,430.4 Php. You can see at 2.8M, the price has doubled.
