for 2.6M, i'll buy a Sta Fe CRDi and a Ford Escape 4x2.
I saw the pilot yesterday at glorieta and I have to be honest, it looks cheap, feels cheap and really not attractive, especially the price tag
The accord on the other hand will have a tough time competing with the mazda 6 and mitsubishi 240M with that kind of styling and price.

i dont know..between the mazda6, accord and galant, i'd say the galant is the lesser car. i mean what the hell is mitsu thinking pricing it higher than the accord and mz6 while only providing a driver's airbag LOL.
imo, the new accord while not that good looking is still better than the 240m... while the mazda 6 is still the undeniable winner in terms of looks. saw 2 mazda 6s 2.3L yesterday... ganda talagaThe accord on the other hand will have a tough time competing with the mazda 6 and mitsubishi 240M with that kind of styling and price.

The Honda Pilot[/SIZE]
(launching at Glorietta in Makati)
How can a P2.6M 3.5L gasoline guzzling full sized SUV (H.Pilot) be something the middle class readers of TGP be wanting to buy? Given the fuel milage would probably be 3-4km/L in city driving, won't a H.CRV be a better option? At least that one gets 5km/L. Even then, that is a far cry from a H.Jazz which gets around 8-9km/L in real world city driving.
The only thing practical about the H.Pilot is probably if you often drive out of the city. The big 3.5L gasoline engine would get more decent fuel milage figures (I estimate 10-11 km/L) on the highway. And given it seats 8 people (only if three of them have their legs amputated at the knees to fit in the 3rd row seating style) it can almost rival the T.Innova in seating capacity.

At least the 3rd row seats can fold down flat to give the H.Pilot the cargo capacity enough to feed an African village of a week, or Vernon Sarne's overnight luggage.
Talking about luggage, if you do plan to take the H.Pilot on an out of town trip, the Pilot will only take five people with their share of bags & stuff so you end up with the seating capacity of the H.CRV with only slightly more stuff carried around. Probably great if your idea of a weekend out of town trip is to bring all the comforts of home with you, including the TV, your kid's PS/2 game computer and the kitchen sink.
Some good points about the H.Pilot though. The front & 2nd row seating are comfortable and access to the 3rd row can be done with a simple pull on a lever located at the top or bottom of the 2nd row seat. There is even a small storage area under the rear cargo deck with space enough to put half-a-dozen cans of your favortite beer. The seats themselves are covered with leather (although I thought the grey colored interior is rather dull and uninspiring).
At the end of the day, I think the H.Pilot might be a good vehicle technically (with it's 4x4 drive system and big powerful engine) but the market does not need another gasoline guzzling SUV, especially one that costs P2.6M (delivery still pending in November 2006) and with very poor fuel economy in city driving (which is the expected normal environment where it will be mostly driven). I don't know how this SUV will appeal to its potential buyers except for the prestige of the "H" badge in its front grill. If that's the only reason, it might be better to look elsewhere.

only thing i like about the Pilot is the macho front and huge engine. yun lang![]()
let's not shoot down the pilot (no pun intended) until we've test driven it. i had the chance to drive it along with the odyssey and ridgeline and they all drove like much smaller vehicles. magaang i-drive tsaka ganda ng handling. will its driving dynamics make-up for the bland exterior/interior and the high price? depende na yan sa bibili.
Correct. magaan i-drive, handles so well, so comfortable inside. i don't find the exterior bland. the only gripe is the price.Originally Posted by FXT

Sobrang pangit at cheap ng interior that it doesn't even deserve a million-peso price tag. Even the outdated Corolla Altis can beat such crappy & cheap interior. Baka masuka pa ako lalo....so no thanks.
Better spend your 2 million on something else.

I'll be leninet na rin siguro. Half price * 1.3 million.
