what is wrong with honda phil? do you they really think they can sell the Pilot here that well. Or is that they just wanna have a car to battle the Prado, Murano, etc. even if they have a hard time selling it. It will end up just like the Legend, Odyssey, and HRV. they would get better and higher profits if they just bring in the Civic Coupe or Acura RSX.

Honda started taking reservation for the Pilot yesterday but actual delivery will occur in November! Any takers? I just dont think so. :D

And everytime I read Honda press releases, I always read a statement that they use as an excuse for lackadaisical sales of some of their vehicle line-up. "The Filipino consumers equate value with size". So now they release a bigger vehicle but they got the price wrong this time.

ahaha...i would think that any consumer, Filipino or otherwise, usually equates value with price

Maybe if it were the Acura MD-X, I'd pay 2.6M if I had such amount. Heck, what are Honda thinking in bringing the Pilot here? They should have brought it SKD at least and shouldn't have a problem selling it at 2M at most. I just saw it a while ago but never knew the price until I read this thread. Haller, that's almost 2 Fortuners, and Hondas aren't proven in the SUV segment yet. I'd also take a Pajero anytime. It's a proven off-roader with a way beefier body.

As for the Accord, it finally got the ass it should have had in the first place. It may not be as eye-popping as the others, but it makes the car more proportioned; easily an additional 2 stars for its looks. I would have taken a V6 if I had cash, but for the 4-cylinder, it's still the 6 for me.

I think the Murano has a CVT with virtual ratios and a true 6-speeder. :D

Uw men, sobrang mahal naman nyan!! Fugly, just like the Element! Ridgeline lang trip kong Honda SUV/Pick-up. I n'th emotion na mas ok ang Murano! Boycott yan!!! Hehe. Si na lang ang dalhin sa Pinas, siguradong maraming tsikoteers nakapila sa dealers! BTW, Honda's planning for a 4-dr Si mid-07 ata. Go! Go! Go!

170hp yung 2.4 ng Accord? In other places, 190hp yung 2.4 na Accord eh. Could it be that Honda is using the engine from the previous gen Accords?

The Pilot is probably a white elephant project so that at least Honda can say they have a vehicle in the price range of the Murano, Prado, Pajero, etc...even if the Pilot is really nothing close to those vehicles.

Or Honda has excess inventory of Pilot some other parts of the world so they need to sell those fast before the all new one comes out. What better place to dump these units than developing countries.

i thought the pilot had the same (if not bigger and more powerful) engine, how come it can't come close to any of those vehicle?

i like the murano better than the pilot.

Except for the refinement of the Murano on paved roads,I was actually referring to the Pilot's off-road capabilities compared to the Prado and Pajero (since all being marketed as SUVs). Or I maybe wrong but that's my perception.

Well, the new Pajero's off-road capabilities are compromised by its unibody (as compared to ladder-on-frame) structure. The current Pajero is no Fieldmaster. And before you point out the Paris-Dakar, let me just say that BMW's X5 competes in that, too, and the stock X5 is pretty much accepted to be an on-road-only vehicle.

In terms of power delivery and on-road refinement, the Pilot probably matches or surpasses all of the others. Sure, it's not as pretty as a Murano, or as capable off-road as a Prado (as unthinkable as it is for someone to actually take that extremely expensive vehicle off-road in the first place), but it's still class-competitive.

And it has won acclaim in the US. Honda may not make trucks that purists like, but they make them very very nicely. Take the Ridgeline. I think it absolutely sucks. But apparently, according to testers, it's a very clever and very good truck. Too bad truckers aren't biting.

    -----

But hey, I think all of these behemoths are overpriced.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I got to see the Pilot at Glorietta this afternoon. Woah, it has a 3.5 li V6! I wonder how much kilometer to liter does thing get in heavy traffic. The design is quite dated (actually more like an updated and enlarged Gen1 CRV). One thing that is nice about the Pilot though is its fold flat third row seats, which I wish Toyota could have done to the Fortuner.

19 mpg on the city 22 on the highway. It's the same 3.5 you get on 300 hp acura RL , 265 hp aura MDX. The shifting of automatic tranny is smooth and no hesitation . I love my 04 pilot ,but for a 2.6 m pesos , eh mahal nga naman. One of the best seller here in the US and canada, Best Buy SUV, etc. etc.

2.6M? for a LUXURY "kuno" na Honda Pilot... forget it and drive home a Nissan Murano instead. at least yun mukhang Luxury SUV kahit hindi naman. the Pilot looks so dated with a gen1 CRV front and Isuzu-ish looking back.

to Honda (on the Accord), less chrome please especially on the corners of the bumper. it sucks big time, it makes the Accord looks DOM-ish instead of being sporty which what it should be.
