why was it more expensive if it didn't have a vtec engine?

looking at some of the remaining hrv driving around, it definitely had good ground clearance, looks roomy inside. did the version released here have 4wd?

could this have a comeback here, especially the likes of toyota 4runner/innova, mitsu montero sport, isuzu adventure master coming in this year?

it's too small to compete with the 4runner, montero sport, et al. yes it did come with 4wd. the styling really sucked. it looked like an 80's to 90's volvo running on stilts.

coz the hrv's that was sold here were CBU's. correct me if im wrong. also because of the 4wd mechanism.

its called a "soft-roader", and it doesn't have a transfer case and low range gears to tackle serious off road tracks

its very rare....as i remember noon brand new nyan is almost the same as a brand new gen1 crv...1.6 "crv 4wd" non-vtec m/t ang local dito...nagtataka ko kasi bakit mas bihira pa ang local na odyssey(di galing subic, basta converted) kasysa dito?

city-4wd din ito like crv's, rav 4's, etc....pero un nga daw sabi sa reviews parang kotse lang na lifted and 4wd..panu kaya maintenance ng mga ito...masmahirap kaya kaysa sa odyssey?(wala pa kong nakita kahit 2nd hand import nito,e..)or talagang di siya worth sa price nya?

HR-V came out June 2000, I could still remember the ad in MB, that was June 12, 2000. Well at first, I thought na medyo malaki yun. Nyek, mas maliit pala sa CR-V! IMO, its more of a hatchback than a mini-SUV. I find it cramped and over priced.

the reason why mas rare sa roads natin ang local release na odyssey is because of it's price tag. nasa million price range ata yun when it was released. most expensive minivan at that time. but same as the hr-v, cbu units din ang odyssey.

yes orig left hand. 2. something niya na bili, wala kasi siya problema sa pag import and pag hahanap ng mga origs doon. siya yun namamahala sa company eh.

    I just bought a 2nd hand HRV

All your comments are true: Its weird looking, manual and expensive at acquisition cost. I also dont see any reason for buying one.

But buying it 2nd hand has some sense... its really cheap (no one really considers buying them) about the same price of a civic with the same year - meaning you get a better deal coz an HRV is more expensive during acquisition.

As long as you dont look at it as an SUV but more of a raised car/wagon its a good and reliable car. Cheap to maintain. Parts are available (it shares with the CRV and civic)

As long as you can live with the weird looks. Its really a good deal...

yup most of the time buying 2nd hand is wiser since the 1st buyer bears the brunt of the depreciation. oks yan pag 2nd hand for everyday cruiser.

    2000 model, 33t KM 450T...

I find it surprisingly fast (its a manual 1.6L) not Vtec but generally speaking honda engines are fast enough... manual stick and clutch are as good as any civic which is above average (compared to other compacts)

Its more practical than a Jazz (bigger)... rear seats fold and tumble so its really practical just like a wagon. Space inside is bigger than a civic (no kidding) big inside small outside.

I can do 8km/Lt in TRAFFIC!!!

Handling is like a car... think of it as a mature honda hatch... its exactly what it is.

My only gripes: its a manual, weird looking, lousy radio

Im quite happy with the car considering it wasnt in my short list of cars.
