The ultimate front-wheel drive performance car? 240hp and 160 ft-lb of torque? the Mazdaspeed3 is also front-wheel drive and kicks the crap out of this car for almost half the price!

(Civic Mugen RR - $38K, Mazdaspeed3 - $24K)

Ah, the lengths Honda fanboys will go to...

It is also pricier than most performance-oriented compact AWD vehicles... namely the R32, WRX, Evo, etc.

magaya nga, except the mags. sana magimport na sila ng mugen accessories (meron na body kit) hehe. i'll buy an evo X if i have that kind of money.

i like the design, but a more subtle wing would've done it for me. for 38k, i'd get an evo9.

some people on autoblog were pointing out that the $38K price is JDM. if converted to US pricing it would be around $28K. apparently cars are more expensive in Japan.

at $28K that's squarely in subaru impreza territory.

I'd still get the mazdaspeed3 ($24K) compared to a $28K civic. but at $28K it's a far more credible alternative than at $38K.

for 28K ill get an 03 cobra with 390HP and 390trq.spend 150 for a smaller pulley,500 tune,and a full exhaust for 900,255 walbro fuel pump for 250 and 41LB fuel injectors for 400 and im well off with having about 600HP+ and still have 500 bucks to spare.

Secondhand doesn't count. I could have a 1000 hp Camaro for that much if we start going that way...

While the Mazdaspeed3 is much more powerful, and based on a better chassis and suspension set-up (in my opinion), I absolutely adore Honda's high-revving screamers, and a 1'06" lap time at Tsukuba is nothing to scoff at... WRXs and Evos do it in similar times (stock, I mean...).

Now, if it only had decent steering...
