Going compact: The Civic 1.6 VTi replaces the 1.8 VTi, marrying performance with fuel economy
By Samuel Ee - 8 July 2006
The Business Times
The eighth-generation Honda Civic returns to the 1,600cc compact car market this weekend.
Replacing the Civic 1.8 VTi, the new Civic 1.6 VTi is equipped with an i-VTEC engine which promises the sporty performance of a conventional 1.8-litre unit but with fuel economy that is better than a 1.5 litre. It is essentially the same unit as the one found in the popular 1.8 VTi and VTi-S - deliveries of which began in January 2006 - but with a smaller displacement.
Engine horsepower is 15 hp less at 125 hp compared to the VTi but the good low-end torque promises zippy acceleration and elasticity. The automatic version also features five forward speeds, a first in its class.
Together with the 2.0 Si and the 1.3 Hybrid, the introduction of the 1.6 model means there are now four engine choices in the Civic range.
Honda Civic 1.6 VTi
Engine: 1,595cc
Gearbox: 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic
Max power: 125 hp * 6,500 rpm
Max torque: 151 Nm *4,200 rpm
0-100 kmh: 9.2 secs (M), 10.5 secs (A)
Top speed: 197 kmh (M), 192 kmh (A)
Price: from $69,500 (with COE)
Sa concorde megamall ko binili ang auto gauge digital voltmeter and pillar pod. Universal ung pillar pod so nag trim pa ako para magfit siya sa civic then sa installer ko na lang pinakabit ung wirings.Originally Posted by jobski
