I own a Civic Vti matic 2000, possible trouble if the automatic transmission fluid is not regularly changed or maintained. Fuel consumption the manual tranny is more fuel efficient. In my opinion get the manual variant, easy to maintain and parts are cheaper than the automatic. Good luck with your choice.

madami na'ng problema ng sasakyan na iyan especially yung A/C. if i were you, i will buy a newer car if not a new one. just my 2 cents.

however, not all old cars are the same. some are well maintained, some are abused, and some are not so used. buying an old car poses many many risks. it's up to you if you can absorb the maintenance cost if you happen to buy a lemon.

    cheers!

+1, dapat may budget for repairs even if na-check ng mechanic and some test drive. You just won't know everything eh. So kapag sakto lang budget mo sa car, sakit sa ulo yan. Hanap ka ng iba or much better, dagdagan budget. HTH

i just bought a 2002 honda vti-s A/T.. hindi totoong sasakyan nalang ang mga used cars.. tama .. be sure you have extra budget for extra repairs.. make sure may kasama kang trusted mekaniko para makita ito ng maayos... tulad ng nabili ko.. minor repairs sya.. and pinakaimportante pagaalaga ng transmission...

First of all, congrats on your new ride sir! All you need to do is flush all fluids (engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, ATF, power steering).

Then replace all belts (alternator, power steering, aircon, timing)

Then give it a good tune up by replacing spark plugs, air cleaner, and have its ignition checked.. Check all connecting hoses for all fluid lines (coolant, brake, and fuel lines).

Additionally, you may also want to have all sensors cleaned by being sprayed with a good contact cleaner just to be sure that all your sensors are in good working order.

Also have the brake pads and tires assessed if they need replacement.

Have your A/C cleaned. Minsan di engough yung recharge lang ng freon.

Lastly, have the suspension parts checked and replaced if necessary. This includes all bushings, ball joints, tie rods, rack ends, stabilizer link and bushing, shock mounts, springs, shock absorbers.

This will set you back a considerable amount so prepare your wallet as well.

When all checks out, enjoy your new ride. :D Congratulations again sir. :D
