April 6th, 2005 08:44 PM #1just this morning i went to my suking mekaniko shop located in j abad santos st. to have my honda city (new i-Dsi) engine.. change oil and tune up, actually this is my 3rd time to change oil here, the first 2 ok naman, but ngayon, tanga sobra yung makaniko... after he drained my cars oil, pinasok nya na new oil for diesel engine, (grey yata kulay nung lalagyan,) ndi ko ito napansin coz i was talking with someone, after a few minutes , a fellow technician called the attention of the technician thas was attending my car and told him na gas yung car ko and not diesel !... nung nilapitan ko yung guy sabi nya pasensya na daw ndi daw nya napansin dahil kasi true enough na may nakalagay sa makina ay (i-DSI) , the stupid guy read it I-DSL... as in I-DieSeL... haha i could not imagine someone would be so stupid to put a diesel oil for a gasoline fed sedan.. kaya yun sinumbong ko dun sa bosing nila and pinagalitan yung technician sabi sa kanya dapat kun ndi siya sure mag tanong muna..(good thing is ndi ko pa na sastart makina ko at that time)
anyways, mga 2 liter nailagay nya, then dinrain nya ulit...after draining he already put the oil for gasoline fed (White yung lalagayan)..and after that dinrive ko, driving it for around 25 kms. wala naman akong na feel na problem sa car..smooth naman takbo...so beware for new city owners, kun magpapa lagay kayo ng langis maliban sa honda, dapat nyong bantayan yung gumagawa ang remind him na gas yung car mo..
i have some questions:
1. may posibility ba na masira yung car ko? nangyari na ba ninyo katulad nung case ko.. after na change ng tamang oil, dinrive ko car ko mga 25 kms. wala naman ako na rining na weird sound sa makina or hesitation na tumakbo... the reason i ask is becoz bka ndi nya naidrain ng buo yung napasok na diesel oil and baka may natira pa ng konti then he already put the engine oil for gas engine...
2. what will happen if ndi ko raw napansin na para sa diesel yung nailagay nya then stinart ko and umalis ako, wud i feel the difference? or bye bye na makina ko?
geez better be careful these days because simple changing oil can give you quite a headache...

hindi naman ganun kasama kung nalagyan mo ng engine oil for diesel, basta hwag mo lang naman i-over rev ang engine mo.

no harm pare. diesel engine oil just have more anti-sulfur properties and higher tbn than gasoline engine oils. in fact you can run your gasoline engine on diesel engine oil, just don't rev up to high RPMs since diesel engine oil is not designed for high engine speeds.
reverse is also true. you can put gasoline engine oil in a diesel engine. yun nga lang since mababa ang anti-sulfur saka tbn, madaling dadami ang acids dun sa oil (hence the tbn will become low faster) and you will need to change oil earlier.
on the old swamp barge i worked on yung rescue boat namin shell rimula hs40 ang oil na nilalagay ko for 3 years di naman nasira. 4 stroke gasoline engine yun running on diesel oil. lagi pa namin ginagamit yung rescue boat pag nauubusan kami ng beer saka yosi sa rig, or kinakati yung OIM na frenchman gusto mambabae sa bayan, which is a good 4 hours away at full throttle.

some hard core racers even use high performance diesel engine oil on their gas fed cars.

It looks like solid state batteries are the next big thing. Will manufacturers allow retrofits to...
