I bought my extended warranty sa GH, they are very well aware of the EPS issues.

I've shared here it before, I'll share again, while talking to the warranty processor (who also sold the extended warranty to me), I overheard him talking to a tech, "ahh Civic yan diba, oo EPS yan".

I have his calling card, will share it here pag nakuha ko sa glove box.

What I'm more interested is if new na yung part# nung ni rereplace. If not, then babalik din yan eventually diba? I hope you can update this thread pag napa replace mo including the part#.

The steering DOES stick out of center!!! Akala ko ako lang!

Ang straight sakin is the steering wheel shouldbe turned a wee bit to the left. If straight na straight, veers to the right nga din.

Slight issue naman sakin, pero will have this checked sa CASA sa sixth month. Or would you guys suggest to have it checked ASAP?

It's likely just off toe. Nothing a good alignment can't correct, sir. Delaying may show on tire wear.

Sorry forgot about the calling card.

Anyway, napa check mo na EPS mo?

    *Ironman,

Pina align ko din sakin kase fresh from casa off-centered din sakin eh.

Dapat less than 1k KM odo for the alignment warranty. Although green na sa report, di pa din centered, so pinatira ko sa Servitek.

Manual adjustment na lang para gitnang gitna.

Ahhh.. So walang sound yung sayo pag sagad? Kase once they hear it, no need for errors.

And the EPS light won't turn on for this particular issue of the Civic FC.

Seriously??

For simple mechanical rattling from normal wear and tear, there is actually a very simple fix. You just need to tighten the rack guide by 1/8 turn (40 degrees to be specific) and your steering is good as new. Don't listen to the P80K replacement offered by the casa or the P5k "overhaul with engineering plastic bushing" BS offered by roadside hacks.

There is a rack guide adjustment service and a special tool (PN: 07AAA-TL2A100) from Honda that makes this in-situ service possible and quick - less than an hour if the mechanic knows what he's doing. There is no need to bring down the subframe or align wheels after. Only the bottom cover needs to be partially bent down to perform the procedure.

This "rack guide" (by Honda's lingo), "yoke", "preload", "slipper", "half-moon" (in local lingo) adjustment is present in all rack and pinion steering systems - hydraulic or EPS. So this applies to non-honda vehicles as well.

If your unit is relatively new, by all means claim the entire EPS assembly under warranty. If not, this simple rack guide adjustment should buy you some time before a replacement. You can probably get away with one or two adjustments before the clearances become too big to be mitigated by the adjustment. Greasing the rack guide port and the rack itself also helps. Use tacky (NLGI grade 1 or 2) lithium or calcium-based grease as normal mineral grease would degrade the rubber o-rings and plastic bushings/gears in the EPS unit.

Is this true for all early models? The ES is well known for this issue.
