Hi, I'm considering buying a Jazz 1.3S M/T within the quarter and I'm really excited about it. I love the looks, interiors, and FC. Gustung gusto ko rin yung malaking luggage space niya.

However, some friends discourage me from getting a Jazz. Sabi nila, mahal raw ang maintenance.

Guys, how true is this? Iniisip ko kase, kung hindi rin naman masyadong mataas ang difference compared sa ibang kotse (I'm considering Vios 1.3 M/T too), go for the Jazz na ako. I've searched this forum for the same topic but the date goes back in 2006.

Can you give me an idea on how much to maintain a Jazz (PMS, etc.) these days?

    Thanks a lot!

Not sure what maintenance they're talking about. I have a new 1.5V Jazz for 5 months now and the only thing I find "magastos" are the upgrades I put on the car. Maintenance? Are they talking about PMS? If it is all Honda cars pretty much has the same pricing when done by your casa.
    (Ex. 1k/1Mo PMS = Free 10k/6Mo PMS =3K+)

Maintenance cost(PMS) is the same as the other cars (Toyota, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Nissan, Hyundai, et al)....

yep, yung sinasabi nilang maintenance, i think they're referring to the PMS. and it's good to know na parehas lang pala ang PMS costs ng Jazz versus other cars.

really inclined towards the Jazz! soon, we'll get one. :p

pero pahabol na tanong nalang po mga masters, one friend said that the Jazz has 8 spark plugs, and you need to change them every 10K i think. you have an idea how much it'll cost to change those spark plugs?

    thanks!

regular spark plugs cost less than 200 each. kung yung mga iridium, i think below 500 na.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I bet they are referring to the DSI (1st Gen). AFAIK the current Gen uses Iridium and doesn't have that much spark plugs

yup, idsi nga yung may 8 spark plugs. spark plugs kasi yung ginagamit nya para mag-vary nung combustion sa chamber unlike vtec na valves ang vina-vary nya.

Spark plugs can actually last more than 50K, and you don't have to replace it every 10K. But if you'll be comfortable replacing the SPs every 10k, then do it.

Also, check your manual about Maintenance Minder. Honda cars are equiped with maintenance minder, this will light up when your Oil Life is at 15% and it wil signify a code what maintenance should be performed. (e.g., A1) where A Replace Engine Oil, and 1 signifies Rotate Tires. For B4, it signifies Replace Oil and Oil Filter and all other 9 point ++ inspections and other services. 4 means Replace Spark Plugs.

Maintenance Minder was put in place so that the voodoo guessing when and what to replace during maintenance will be more accurate, hence will make the vehicle cheaper to maintain.

masyadong maaga for a 10k replacement ang spark plug afaik. not unless may physical evidence na ito ay kailangan ng palitan.

Based on personal experience, heres the breakdown of the expenses on PMS i've incurred so far on my 2010 Honda Jazz 1.5V

    6 months or 10K PMS
    Actual ODO Reading: 6,400K
    Service Center: Honda Pampanga
    Details:
    4 Ltrs Honda Fully Synthetic 5w40 - 2,200
    Honda Oil Filter - 322
    Drain Plug Washer - 29
    Labor - 1,120
    Total: 3,671

    1 Year or 20K PMS
    Actual OD Reading: 13,707K
Service Center: VM David Service Center
    Details:
    Motul Htech 100 Fully Synthetic Oil 10w40 4 Lts - 2,200 (550 per liter)
    Honda Oil Filter - 322
    Drain plug Washer - 29
    Disk Brake Cleaner - 250
    Labor - 220
    Tip - 50
    Total: 3,071
Excess oil from the 4 liters was given to me

    1.5 Year or 30K PMS
    Actual OD Reading: 21,074K
Service Center: TC Tech Service Center
    Details:
    Motul Htech 100 Fully Synthetic Oil 10w40 4 Lts - 2,000
    Honda Oil Filter - 359
    Drain plug Washer - 29
    Brake Cleaning - 600
    Tip - 100
    Change oil Labor - 200
    Total: 3,288

If you do a comparison of the PMS cost of a Jazz and an Avanza or Vios, medyo mas mura toyota but depends on where you get it done. if you have it done sa casa, good luck with the cost kasi sa langis pa lang tatagain ka na sa presyo. what i do with my dad's avanza is that i get oil elsewhere. i have friends who sell per gallon of fully synthetic oil of toyota for a really cheap price and orig toyota oil filter tas we even get to keep the excess oil. like for 1.3 avanza J, 3 liters of oil lang, so dun sa 1 gal may 1 liter pako natitira. so next oil change, 3 liters na lang kailangan namin. laking tipid.

re: spark plug, dun sa old iDSI engine ng Jazz GD, 8 plugs yun, so magastos nga. pero dun sa GE model, 4 lang, pero iridium plugs ( <> 500 each) pero good for 100K naman so sulit versus regular plugs around 300 each good for 10K, well... thats what i did before with my kia using reg plugs.

Yep, this is the 1year/20T kms checkup. The agent told me "[PARTS] ELEMENT FILTER CT 09-11 JZ 09-12 - 1,903" is for the engine.

For the next checkup, I'll opt-out for those items. Thanks for the inputs. Sana lang they won't counter-attack by voiding the warranty, especially if I do the filter replacements outside the casa.
