July 15th, 2008 01:02 PM #1Mga kasama,
I have a 1994 Honda Accord. Dati madalas mag overheat.
Pinaayos ko at naayos naman. Then after a month, I heard
a clanking noise. Yun pala, yung crankshaft pulley sira na.
So gastos ako ulit. Naayos naman. Yun nga lng, I noticed na
sobrang lakas kumain ng gas ung kotse. Sa computation ko,
around 2.5 Km/L ung FC nya. I've read before na ang 94 accord
has an average of 7-8 Km/L na FC.
What else could be wrong? Kailangan ba syang i-tune up?
Yung gulong ba, malaki ang maico-contribute sa fuel consumption?
Medyo kalbo na rin kc ung tires. But 2.5 Km/L? It must be
something else.
Please help naman po! BTW, noob po ako sa car.

DAMN!!!!! 2.5km/l???!?!? kakaiba sa lakas sa gas yan... parang hirap paniwalaan.
anyway, hirap ba sa hatak yung makina? matigas ba yung clutch? may nararamdaman ka bang kakaiba sa takbo? nagpatuneup ka na ba ng malupit? if you reach 80km/h nasaan ang rpm mo?
sakit sa bulsa niyan, kailangan kagad mapagawa yung ganyan.

July 15th, 2008 02:50 PM #5As I said po noob lng ako baka naman mali ung compute ko.
Ganito po kasi ginawa ko:
My fuel gauge is pointing to Empty. Went to gas station at nagpalagay ng 500.00 petot (8.393L x 59.570 P/L) na gas. Reset ko po yung trip meter and went home. Today, may hinatid ako sa jeep station then went to work. Upon arriving office, my trip meter reads 129. If not mistaken, meters po yun so meaning appoximately 13 KM yung tinakbo ko since yesterday from gas station. My fuel gauge is nearing Empty again. Siguro mga 4-5 L yung nabawas. So 13 KM/5L = 2.6 Km/L.
Actually, last saturday, I went to Las Pinas. Almost Empty na rin so nag pa-gas ako worth 1,000 petot. Thats about 16 L of fuel. Since nakalimutan ko i-reset ung trip meter, gumamit na lng ako ng Google Earth to measure ung distance nung route ko. My measurement was 46 KM. Same thing, pagdating ng bahay, almost Empty na ulit gas ko. So 46 KM /16 L = 2.875 Km/L.
Could this be a leak in fuel tank? If so paano ko po kaya malalaman?
One more thing, when I was in Fort Boni, I heard a "TOK" noise at the back.
Since naka-park ako malapit sa golf course, I thought baka I was hit with golf ball lng and immediately dismissed the incident. I check outside. Wala namang dents or marks.
BTW. Automatic po pala ung kotse. Parang hindi naman po hirap ung engine. At around 80 kph nasa > 3000 rpm po sya. Ung idling ko po is < 1000 rpm.
Iba pa po ba ung service na tune up? Kahit na pina-top overhaul na sya?
Sorry po, noob lng...

Simplest way to compute FC is to start with a full tank, reset trip meter to zero. Then after travelling a considerable distance (ideally when near empty), do another full tank, and measure total distance travelled. Divide total distance by the amount of fuel needed for a full tank.
If indeed abnormally malakas consumption mo, better bring it to the Honda casa. They have the proper tools to diagnose. Might be incorrect plugs, incorrect a/f mixture, etc.

July 15th, 2008 04:14 PM #9Just bring it to Honda Casa just this once for a diagnosis. Masakit man sa bulsa, pero in the long run...makakatulong. Should be less than P1,000 for a diagnosis.

Actually hindi ako madalas umabot ng 80. Malapit lng kasi office ko.
I'll try to take note though when I have the chance.
