    Good morning gentlemen/ladies

Sa mga owners ng Civic 1.5 na turbocharged, have you had any experiences ng oil dilution katulad ng mga owners na naka-experience nun sa US and Canada? Especially in colder climates.. Same sa CRV nila doon kasi naka 1.5L turbocharged din.. same na same ng engine sa RS Turbo dito.

Yes tropical country tayo, but did any of you have experience this by smelling a strong scent ng gasoline sa oil dipstick? Tapos parang tumataas yung oil level sa dipstick over time kasi nga unti2x naghahalo yung gas. If yes, did you have any issues sa car?

Would love to know any inputs..

I am a bit worried since I just bought a low mileage(3,500 km) Civic 1.5 turbo. Inamoy ko yung dipstick and ayun, amoy na amoy yung gasoline. I'm sure as hell hindi ganun kalakas yung amoy ng gas sa aking 1999 civic.. hehe

Wala naman. Maybe some UI optimizations, compatibility updates to work with newer Android features or hell even just a new wallpaper or clock... 😂🤣😜

I also noticed the same thing on our turbo petrol cars - that smell of petrol on the disptick. However, no issues naman.

Older Subaru turbo petrol cars had minor issues dealing with oil burn. Most owners just top up the oil regularly.

Just enjoy your Civic RS. Make that engine scream, redline the tachometer once in a while. It’s a bit lame if you have a horse and you ride it like a cow. Hehehe

first time ko kasi magkaron ng almost new car... so ayun..

thanks for sharing! nag-worry ako kasi may point of comparison ako since baseline ko yung 1999 civic. smells like engine oil but a bit of fuel din pero yun nga.. sa 1.5 Turbo mas amoy talaga hihi.

if ever.. mas pipiliin ko yung magbawas dahil sa pagburn ng oil instead na tumaas dahil sa fuel mixture. lol

Ask if they're checking and smelling the oil regularly.

May Civic RS din family ko but mostly brother-in-law ko gumagamit. In almost 5 years, no issue naman but I will check if it also behaves the same. Yung FXT at Fiesta Ecoboost, ganun eh.

Sa Focus Ecoboost namin ganun din. After maybe around 4 to 6 months, I can smell a bit of gasoline from the oil. The oil level however did not increase. That's why I don't do extended oil change... to be safe. 😂

Might be a common turbo GDI thing.

Since 2018, I am doing oil change on a 12-month cycle with my XT. Never naman ako nagka problem. I did the same on the Fiesta 2 years after I bought it.

Which reminds me, I am due for an oil change within the next month or so. May naka ready na ako na oil at filters, schedule ko na lang visit sa suki kong auto shop.

Parang lugi ka to buy a used Civic RS for 1M. A used WRX would be better for the same price. You get almost 100hp more power and 60% more torque with the WRX plus AWD grip. Kung pamilyado ka, the Forester XT will provide you the same acceleration and speed of a Civic RS plus you get to carry more stuff in the trunk - at a much lesser price. Nasa 700k to 800k lang ata used 2015-2016 XT nowadays.

This is pretty much exactly what you said. Maybe the sellers think Honda parts are made of gold?

No one might be noticing nor alarmed as most would check to see if topping up is needed. Conventional thinking on oil level checks shouldn't apply to vehicles known for oil dilution. They should be observed for rising levels, not oil consumption.

Check the Fb page of speedworks. They have tuned a couple of Civic RS to 220 whp.

They are a locally based tuning shop who do a lot of exotics, GTRs, porsches etc. Very good at their craft.

Common problem with Subarus are AC compressors conking out

We have an 09 on its 3rd compressor and it only has 80K mileage. Many others in the FB group complain about it.

    Otherwise its rock solid

I would only own a Subaru if I lived in NCR or other urban places. Specialists are very few. There are probably more Merc/BMW specialists.

A Honda would be easier to maintain, probably a bit cheaper too.

maybe that's the reason why i saw at least 3 subarus parked at coolmate denso at makati..theres a forester, xv and 1 big wagon that i don't remember the model.. then when i was leaving, another xv came to have their AC checked..

i thought they were "generic" compressors, differing only in the external mounting design...
does subaru also have different internals in their compressors?

Very specific mount point sa ibabaw ng boxer engine. Built-in brackets sa compressor. 50k pesos para ma replace.

No idea, but I believe they are made by Denso.

Denso Coolmate is the usual recommendation from the Subaru FB group.

For my XT, the only things I replaced so far are the lower arm bushings and the expansion valve of the aircon. I replaced them outside casa and they didn’t cost that much. Coolmate nga yung suking shop ng Subie owners.

Yung aircon ng 2016 Civic RS namin is showing signs of a problem. We did recharge the freon but if it loses cooling capability again, we will have to check if something is broken.
