Can't really tell 100% for sure. We can be sure that the cost will be lower but that doesn't mean the importer will pass on the savings to the consumer.

For the CR-V if you're wondering why it is expensive despite being already manufactured in ASEAN, Honda's cost, positioning and margins could always be different from Mazda.

Re: CR-V diesel the low end pull is definitely better than the 2.0 gas. NVH insulation is great and vibration is minimal but it still sounds like a diesel. I dare say my old Navara's engine sounds better.

The CVT on the gas is most probably smoother than the 9AT on the diesel. But comfort wise I don't see much difference between the two.

Just got my Diesel V variant today from Honda Alabang. A LOT of CRV units there of different variants and colors. However, may may-ari na daw lahat. I even saw one customer talking to his Sales Advisor over the phone galit na galit at mukhang naunahan ata ng iba sa gusto niyang unit. I heard from my SA na madami nga daw customer nagagalit like that dahil nagpapareserve hindi agad kineclaim so nabibigay sa iba. No cash reservation kase.

Just returning the favor to this forum for all the answers I got. Summarizing the issues with the Honda CRV Diesel and other questions that others might find helpful. A few hours of driving pa lang though so things might change the longer I play with it...

    1) Availability - Honda Alabang only has Diesel V variant as of today. Many variants in their branch but ALL ARE taken.

    2) Jerking of tranny from go to stop or vice versa (i think it was brought up by Wh1stl3r). - No issues with mine at all. Didn't feel the "tug" being described. From what I felt, might it not be the breaks engaging/disengaging with the Brake-Hold? I tested with Brake Hold ON and OFF but didn't experience this on my unit.

    3) Power - from my test drive and previous Post, this was a concern. Driving my own now, it looks like praning lang ako. With Econ mode ON, I didn't feel alanganin at all. though I was the only passenger and no cargo...

    4) Fuel Economy - Not tested fill up method but the car computer started at 8 km/L then quickly jumped above 12 km/L. driving style is relaxed with seldom flooring of the pedal.

    HELP NEEDED FROM OTHER OWNERS:
    1) Does the Diesel V variant come with Android Auto/Apple Car Play??? That is what I read online and the sales people said the same thing, all variants come with it. But the manual says to connect to 1.5A USB port. there is none on this variant. And from the looks of the OS and startup, walang option mag Android Auto or Apple Car Play...

^ medyo related but i've always wondered if a 1.5 liter turbocharged car can beat a 2.0 liter n/a car w/ all other factors being equal

the 1.5T accord already beats the 2.4 accord. how much more if you have a 2.0 normally asipirated one..

You need to take a look at how much output does the 1.5L turbo engine does compared to the usual 2.0L NA engine. Case in point for the small displacement turbos (Honda 1.5L, Ford 1.5L, and VW 1.4L), these engines are almost similar in output to 2.5L NA engines with peak torque available around 2k rpm. Even Ford's 1.0L turbo produces max torque (200Nm) similar to most 2.0L NA engines.

Malayo sir. Hehe parang 2.4 to 2.5 litre na ang output ng 1.5 turbo. 170~hp compared to 2.0 140-150hp.

^^^ Biggest advantage of turbo engines is the available torque at low rpms. While a normal NA engine is still on its way towards doing peak torque at around 4k to 4.5k rpm, a turbo engine has already reached max torque by 2k rpm and keeps that torque available all up to 5k just before the engine hits the redline.
