Ouch and more ouch! Im sure that might be justified by everything the cr-v has to offer but i wish they could have started pricing an entry level version at the 1.3-1.4m peso level

My SA said that the they'll be launching the turbodiesel CR-V this July but couldn't give me pricing. I was hoping for the 1.5 turbo petrol engine though.

118hp is more than enough for metro traffic.

What's important for anything below 80 km/h is gearing and torque. It's only over 80 km/h, on the way to the highway limit, that you'll really feel the lack of power.

thailand is already exporting left hand drive units. philippines will soon get its new crv but the diesel is still unknown.

What could be the reason for detuning? Because of difference in emission standards? Wouldn't this make the car less efficient because of worse power to weight ratio with same displacement engine?

My commute is > 50 % highway so those numbers are really iffy.

How fast do you drive?

You only need 30-40 hp to maintain 80 km/h on the highway.

118 is more than enough.

The only time it will not be enough is if you are trying to overtake at 120+.

118 is barely adequate. Good enough for cruising, but if you plan to overtake briskly from 40-120 kph on a provincial highway, the extra punch of the 160 hp motor will be very very useful.

It's easy to chip diesels though so if push comes to shove and HCPI fields the lower HP model, a visit to Speedlab can rectify things.

The 160 hp iDTEC does 0-100 in 10-11 sec. A 40hp handicap could be more than just a 1 second penalty with a 1.7-ton CUV.

Not saying it'll ever feel short, since diesels are insanely good at city speeds, even low-power ones. But having driven slow diesels and fast diesels, the latter is obviously more fun for provincial runs.

So buy something with a more powerful engine so it will be a lot quicker.

Personally i don't mind much about the 118bhp. It's the presumed starting price of 1.6m plus that's going to be my main hurdle
