only because there are honda fans who will buy anything honda. and only because these honda fans think it is 100% made in japan and smirk at the koreans, not knowing the engine is made in india.

fans will always be fans. and there are worse.

btw, the sta fe and sorento 7 seaters already have dismal luggage space with the 3rd row up. how much less a crv that is 1 foot shorter?
That's what I was thinking as well. In terms of legroom this CR-V will probably be only a bit better than the X-trail as it is 54mm shorter overall, with a 46mm shorter wheelbase.

Granted the extra exterior length (and perhaps more) on the X-trail is wasted on the engine bay and front bumper.

Exactly my point ... no taxi ppv's = personal use ... ppv's are mostly for personal use ... commercial use vehicles like the avanza / urvan no one cares if it's uderpowered ... business eh ...

but for personal use, i'd like to think buyers will be more discerning and will scrutinize with a magnifying glass the power it produces ... unless of course it's so darn cheap, which I don't think will happen with the price of the CRV ... or unless it's a fanboi buying it, then price is not a dealbreaker ...

Had a chat with a Honda SA. According to him there will only be one gas variant that will be released at 1.5-1.7 M, It will be bare bones lacking the bells and whistles (no moonroof, apple carplay, sensors like lane keep, blindspot monitoring, etc.) of its diesel counterpart which will come in multiple variants with the TOTL at 2.0-2.1M. If the price stays that way, it will definitely contend with the Fort and the Eve in this class. Maraming ring bibili nito agad to avoid the excise tax.

^ Ouch if true. Hopefully, ilabas nila yung initially reported na P1.6M entry level na diesel kahit 120hp. If I haven't bought my Monty earlier this year, I could have been in the market for that diesel version.

The Fortuner G with 102 hp was not so darn cheap, yet it outsold the 200 hp Santa Fe and Sorento combined.

Again, most buyers don't care. I'm pretty sure if you ask 100 random car owners in a parking lot, most don't have an idea of their cars' horsepower figures.

I may cancel my CX-5 order for a diesel CRV if the latter has the 160-hp motor. But what's this? The engine is made in India?

Maybe to give you some perspective, some Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles are made in India. Both Jaguar and Land Rover are now owned by Tata Motors.

True. Only car guys or driving enthusiast care about hp figures.

I have a friend who bought that 102-hp Fortuner. To him, the Fort is just a tool for getting from point A to point B in comfort. I'm tempted to say it's his loss but then he sold that thing for Php 750T after 6 years!
