Have you also tried CX5? I'm really curious on the comparison of these 2 new SUVs.
I'm still weighing my options pa naman. My Modulo is 2.0L lang bro. CX5? Hmmmm...

Until lumabas yun new Escape, the new CRV and CX5 are the top choices this year.

Pero.. I get the same FC with my 3rd gen 2.4L 4WD.

*pop3corn, I got the 2.4L just for the sake na pinaka-mahal yung variant ng CR-V ko before.

And because I can pay for the fuel

nagtitipid kasi ako sa mga ganyan eh, yun mga hinde ko kelangan. my iphone program ako to compute lahat ng natitipid ko sa gas or kahit mag 1.4 liter car lang ako, or kumain lang ako sandwich araw-araw tapos ganun din naman same byahe ko araw araw eh, tapos yun natitipid ko hinde ko naman sine-save, parang nasa memory lang ba.

kasi pagdating ng panahon, yun amount na yun. yun ang pang-justify ko sa sarili ko, ko para makapag-Europe ako, Holy Land Tour and others in style, bale yun tipid na yun kahit nasa memory ko lang, tatanggapin ko ng buong puso gastusin na Business class ako sa plane and I get to stay sa five star hotels. bale different kind of experience ang next travels ko

wala ng kwenta sa'kin ang status /benefits of owning a grand / expensive car, kaya nga accent M/T lang tinanong ko sa Hyundai thread. My CRV is now 13 yrs. old, all-orig, all restored, na tingen ko will last me additional 7 years more. tapos etong Santa Fe ko, 6 years, na syempre papatagalin ko din ng 20 years. for me to do that, sa computation ng iphone program, i need a 3rd car para di malaspag yun dalawa.

^^^ Since you're trying to save money for a Europe trip, why not replace your iPhone with a Nokia 101 and pair it with an iPod Touch?

hindi ako nag-save ng money. to better illustrate what i'm talking about

let's say nun bumili si *SG ng tucson top-of-the-line nya na 1.7M. during that time, ako din may 1.7M but i opted to buy an accent M/T.

I get to travel to Europe.

and when the time comes na nagkapera ulit si *SG like nun bumili siya ng Sportage for 1.2M, sabay ulit kami ako din may 1.2M, but I didn't spend it on another car, instead I spent it again sa ibang pang travel opportunities.

and so on and so forth, by the time *SG spent 10M and has 5 cars in his garage, for say 10 yrs purchase period.
ang tsikot ko pa din eh Accent M/T.

materially, *SG has the advantage bec. he still owns tangible things like the 5 cars he bought, as compared to mine na iisa lang na-i-pundar ko.

my advantage lang vs *SG is I traveled around the world, learned/witnessed a lot of places/things/etc and still when I'm back home, I can still go from point A to B same as what *SG's 5 cars can do. so if one will analyze, what can *SG do that I can't do, and what I can do that *SG can't do/ didn't experience.

    parang ganun

and also add to that the months that I were away for travel, considered my free from work months, but *SG stayed at home and worked and toiled for 10 years of his life. we are only allowed 40 years to live productively (between 20 yrs. old to 60 yrs. old) by 61, mag-reevaluate ka na ng life mo, what did you really do with your life? if accumulated material but phase-out things is your basis of a fulfilled life then go ahead, live it. to each his own

OB, may kanya kanyang Choices ang tao and kanya kanyang happiness. Personally mas gusto ko magkaron ng bagong sasakyan rather than spending it on a trip somewhere outside the Philippines.

The car, you could keep for 5 years, the trip will just last for a week or two.

I'll have a mindset same as yours:
When you travel, you tend to pig out and spend on unpractical things. Result? Eh ikaw ba, with the unhealthy state of your body... ?

    --
Ok enough of the OB thinking. Hehehe.

Anyway OB, yun nga mas trip mo travel mas trip ni SG kotse. Kanya kanya lang.

hindi ko naman mina-mali si *SG, it's just I defended myself why nagkukuripot ako sa anything tsikot. sabi kasi nya top-of-the line binibili nya tapos may pambili sya ng gas eh

kung tutuusin ng pag binenta nya yan Honda CRV 2.4 nya na white pa siguro yan so plus 30K pa, pag ni-resell niya malabo na mabili pa yan ng over 800K. mas may return pa yun bumili ng 4x2 CRV siguro na nandun di price range. kasi nga feature wise or not, and 2nd hand vehicle is just but a 2nd hand vehicle, gamit na eh. added features become freebies but not added monetary value to the vehicle.

eh ako kasi nun nasira-sira na ang CRV1 ko, instead of thinking of buying a new one. I scoured Banawe and Pasay and even yun sa bangkal ba yun for parts and re-installation costs to restore it to original. alam mo ba *renz, I have restored buong pang-ilalim ko sa all-orig in less than 50K. my CRV's current value during that restoration period is 300K (2010), so plus 50K reinvestment. so bale 50K. if I bought a crv 4x2 in 2010, for 1.3M. tinde din ng ihuhulog ko and for what for driving the same vehicle from point a to b. and now bigla bumulaga etong bagong CRV, para less than 2 years lang half-value na lang yun 1.3M ko.

so i'm thinking, aba eh intay-intay na lang ako magkaka-CRV pa ako ng 2nd gen siguro at 700K. eh since gasoline is going up and CUVs are considered gas guzzlers, baka mag 500K-600K na lang yan ng 3rd gen depende kung gano ka-atat i-dispose ng owner.

naisip ko din bumili ng 700k ng 2nd hand CRV 3rd gen, tapos apply ko nalaman ko sa restoration ng first gen cRV ko, if ever I need to restore some repairs. and then it crossed my mind, aba sa 700K, may brand new na ako accent m/T. at least brand new, yun negative aura na puwede mapasa sa'yo ng first owner for buying a used car, malabo na. minsan kasi naiisip ko din yan, eh pano kung malas pala yun car na yun like for example, namumulto o may nasaktan tao na na-curse or something. i believe in those forces too. eh baka mapasa pa sa unknowingly victim na ako.

at least with the accent, brand new ako. so malamang for me to buy a used CRV 3rd gen, kelangan 500K or below lang, if not. eh di wala. I still have brand new car, and all the savings I got, naipasarap ko na sa buhay instead na dine-dream ko lang after retirement or 60 years old.

yun kase travel/tour ko sa Europe, hulaan nyo sino mga kasama ko, mga senior citizens natin. sometimes they get to talk to me, sabi nila buti pa ako batang-bata nag-Europe na. sana daw sila nun bata pa nakapag-tour na, imagine what they can they do daw noon, pag mas naging meaningful pa daw buhay nila. their words so struck me. yun isang senior citizen pa nga dati ata politiko sa'tin, dami pa din nya tsikot sa isang clan ata province, pero yun nga lang first time nya Europe.
