i am not sure where you got the idea the civic is not selling well. it has sold 101k units ytd, that's +10k units compared last year's 1st trimester. it's true that they are obsessed with lowering the emission, but they still have Si which has the TSX's engine and tranny. it may no longer have the 8k rev limit, but Si is still fun to drive and the reviews are still in high praises. but i will agree on your statement, only if you are considering lower end models, like DX and LX - they suck big time.
D nga ganun kaganda ang bagong civic pero aanhin mo ang maganda at mapormang sasakyan kung may katok naman ang makina. IMO lang.
Not only is the Civic selling well in the US, it's one of the best-selling cars in Canada.
And the consignment brought in by Honda? Even at 1.3m, they're selling like hotcakes. Not in the thousands, but the hundreds that they've reserved have all been sold.
Once the Thai plants are up and running, the Civic should sell even better. This new car fixes all the problems of the FD... it's more comfortable, it's more spacious, it's more refined... okay... so maybe it's not as sporty, but for the type of people who actually BUY brand new cars (people who buy them to commute to work or carry their families), this is a pretty good choice.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
I may have jumped the gun there. I had that perception because of an article that circulated from late last year: Worst car flops of 2011 - Yahoo! Autos
During MIAS, I asked the sales agent, and he said there is no problem in getting a unit. No lines or any sold out whatsoever. He said they had 20 units unallocated. The sales agent's prognosis doesn't seem to jibe with the 2012 Civic supposedly being a sell out success here.
sa angeles,, i've seen mga 5-10 civics na,, elegant nga siya tignan ngayon,, spacious nga siya, sana fuel efficient talaga.. though the rear part looks like a camry. Compared to an altis or elantra, kung may pera lang ako, between the 3, civic all day..
The news started circulating amongst the media about two weeks after MIAS.
20 units unallocated out of how many?
I'm reviewing the test unit now... apparently, rumors of high JDM prices are unfounded... well... it's high, but 1.075m is not terrible, especially with the ECON mode, stability control, back-up camera, cellphone hook-up, cruise control and multi-data-screen controllers on the steering wheel. Okay, I expect leather at 1.1m, but really... that's rare nowadays.
So cloth seats, no power driver's adjustment... no in-dash TV... manual AC only... but according to the PR person, they sold 598 units in March. That was their entire allotment. All JDM. All over 1m. No entry-level models. Imagine what sales will be like when they finally bring in the Thai models, which should cost at least 100k less?
Personally... at 1.075m... I'm 50:50 on it... but the interior space, ride comfort and seat comfort (yay! They fixed those stupid backrests!), as well as the quietness and power of that 1.8 liter engine... they make a pretty good argument for getting this over any of its competitors if all you need is a car to commute in.

Yes :D but in reality, we must weigh the money we give and the features it gives
If you really care about your money) hehe
yup i believe dami pa din bumili ng new civic kahit mahal dito lang sa batangas this week lima agad ang nakita ko ganda ng white hehehe executive na executive ang dating kala ko nga eh accord sa unang tingin
I may have jumped the gun there. I had a perception that it didn't or is not doing well due to it being included in the list of car flops in a news article several months back: Worst car flops of 2011 - Yahoo! Autos
Apparently, it does seem to be doing quite well globally.
quality cars talaga pino-produce ng Honda. my 13 year old CRV can attest to that. pero, Honda seems to be living in a fantasy world or maybe feeling Queen of England, hindi ko i-reach and commoners instead ako ang i-reach nyo, or to that effect.
Honda is not exempted sa bagsak resale value, nowadays, a used 3rd gen is being listed as only 700K++, or almost 50% off the srp value. and i'm sure with skyrocketing gasoline prices, yun 2nd hand buyer i-hahaggle talaga and the 3rd gen CRV owner has no choice but to let go, lalo na kung gas guzzling problems talaga ang problema.
and what about the previous gen Civics, less than 500K na din bentahan neto, from it's SRP na 800K.
payo lang if you will buy that 1.6M CRV or 1.3M Civic, make sure you can keep it 10 years or more. kasi, cars are like cellphones nowadays, they are no longer status quos. pati nga yun mga bumibili ng Audi, or mainstream Euro cars dyan, akala nyo may value yun car nyo. eh sa France nga sa sobrang mahal ng space duon, yun mga tsikot nilang ganyan bangga bangga nag bumpers para lang maiparada / maipagkasya ang mga euro cars nila sa kalye. parang Eastwood/Mckinley Hill/Forbes Town center lang yan, it seems that the Megaworld Tycoon loved Venice so much when he went there earlier than us, pero putsa tignan nyo Venice, if not for its historic past, it's a Canal City, as in pusali talaga, it smells too, as well as so slum-like dwelling locals. tapos dito pag napasyal ka sa Eastwood sosyal ka. haha
btw, Japan CBUs are perceived of greater value bec. Japan has higher standard of living. kasi yan na fruits ng paghihirap nila noon 70's, 80's, 90's, and they're just collecting now. you are paying higher for Japan CBUs only bec. the Japanese can dictate so much of what they built/accomplished. pero kung titignan nyo Sony, nakupo, Sony is now 20% worth of what they were before, hindi siya makalaban sa Apple, in fact, all japanese electronics giantToshiba, Panasonic, Nintendo combined ni hindi maka-dent sa Apple which is now worth more than 4-5 European countries . these are signs of times, gentlemen. yan extra 200K na binabayad nyo sa Japan CBU is only bec. the Japanese is still in the denial stage and continues to live extravangantly. If Korea will not get them, China will. pero tingen sa Samsung palang, paktay na kagad ang electronics industry ng Japan.
and it started...dalawa na sila with the same problem...anyway my FD got this irks and rattle, here and there after 6 months...
"Persistant rattle on my 3 month old Civic. Seems to be coming from dashboard passenger side around or inside the glovebox or the glovebox itself (which is empty).
Only started noticing it last couple of days. Most annoying when driving slowly over corrugations or holes in the road. Anybody else getting any rattles?"
"i had the same problem. only happens when the car has been in the sun for the whole afternoon. it stopped when it cools down. very annoying."
1.3m na pala iyong bagong civic?!
i remember when we got our pearl white mica fd 2.0 s-l back in '06, the price was pegged at around 1.1m. makes me wonder how much their 2.0 variant will come out some time soon
this bit of news made me realize how time sure flies. 6 years old na din pala iyong fd namin![]()
