2011 Honda City 1.3S MT - URGENT HELP

[SIZE=3]Hi All Tsikoteers. I am new here. This week, I am planning to buy Honda City 1.3 S MT, habanero red.
I need your tips suggestions on below concerns:
1. My dealer is in Sta Rosa Laguna, and that I really don't know which is better whether I'll pick up the unit in Laguna or have it delivered at home. Her package is actually great, free LTO, free TPL, free rust-proof, full-tank, basic freebies, tint, hydro-paint, doorvisor, back-door sensor, car cover, etc - the above mentioned made me decide to consider this dealer.
2. How would I check if the unit I will be purchasing is the 2011 model?
3. What is the best Insurance company I should get, what is best to me is low-cost with with quality service. BPI-MS is offering me 23k with AOG coverage.
4. How fuel-efficient 2011 Honda City 1.3 S MT is?

for the same price you can buy the 2011 hyundai accent
i was in your shoes before so dont buy the city
get the hyundai accent because:

* it is a much solid car with german engineered styling, frame and pillars
and not tin can sardine frame definitely you will be much safer in the accent
* styling the accent is definitely ***ier
* if you want solid orocan sidings rubbing your arms go with the city hehe
* the accent guage is much cooler so if you want to get irritated looking at your red amber guage buy the city hehe
* accent is in automatic transmission
* it is a 2011 model as in mainit init pa hindi ilan taon na umiikot sa daan

if you want a car na hindi super garapal na tinipid and you get more value for your money get the accent!

Although, if u want to sell the car in 3 - 5 years. more value yun City.
If u use the car 5 - 10 years, get the Accent

If you're really hell bent on the Honda, its not bad. A lot of people actually buy it for the brand name alone.

The Accent is worth a look and considering that I also use a 1997 model Korean van, quality isn't that far off from the 'branded' ones.

1. If you trust your dealer, it's ok to have it delivered.
2. The date of manufacture will usually be stamped on the seatbelts and on other models, somewhere in the engine compartment. Don't be surprised if the date is a month or two ago or more already. They started making the 2011 models before 2010 ended. What's more important is the car has not been used yet and has been stored properly while awaiting sale. Some kilometers on the odo is also considered normal if the vehicle was road tested during quality control. Besides, they will drive it around the plant also to the parking area and to the loading/delivery area.

Thanks Otep for the information. Nowadays, we should be self-reliant and that don't trust anybody especially when it comes to matters where money is involved. I just wanted to be very skeptic with the purchase that I am pursuing soon.

try nyo po humingi ng dicounts sa price 20k tapos pag ayaw gawin nyo 10k discount at pag ayaw pa din sabihin nyo accent nalang bibilhain nyo

but dont blame me when you see an accent in the show room, in the streets, or one of your frends has one ---and yous say sayang seto nalang sana binili ko.

sinabi ko na mga advantages now think of an advantage/s when you get the city and see which has more advantages

kung ayaw mo maniwala kumuha ka ng 3 magagaling sa oto sabihin mo ipagkumpara nila yun 2 oto na yan mechanically, structurally, aesetically kung sino lamang at walang kadudaduda honda ang.................talo hehe

pag yan 2 otong yan nagbangaan sigurado ako kung city gamit mo para kang sardinas na pinitpit sa lata haha gudluck hehe

i suggest you ask about all colors available. a friend who once got a carbon bronze found out too late that her preferred white was available.

on number 4, my brother has a barely broken-in 1.3 S automatic; the gauge shows an unimpressive 10.4 kpl.

have you done test drives? the accent looks good on paper, but i haven't driven it. try calling other dealers if you couldn't get a discount. you may also do some back-reading on the honda city forum thread.

*OneWayTrip - absolutely no discount with Honda. I like the Innova, diesel 2.5 one, but not enough money for it this time.

I like the habanero red one, for the City 1.3. What does your brother have, MT or the automatic?

There should be not much difference (actually, no difference in the 2011 vs. the earlier models). Anyone, correct me if I am wrong here.

The Km/L performance of the 1.3S A/T (automatic) at 10.4 is much like what I am experiencing now... Your 1.3S M/T (manual)'s performance should be a little bit better than this.

All car insurance companies now are mandated to have AOG because of our recent experience with flooding. Get the one with the lowest cost and the most coverage.

Accent is a veritable option, but the car's feel and aesthetics (and its tyres.... ) do not sink well with me. (I am also a Hyundai fan being a proud owner of the Grand Starex).

[SIZE=3]Hello Flor - now that the fanboys have given their pitch, let's see if I can help. I'm also in the market for a new car (albeit a different class from the one you chose), I've driven Hondas for sometime and my recent multiple visits to various showrooms may help.

- First, unless you can't resist the freebies or the deal is too good to pass up, I'd pick a dealer close to where I live - it's really a big help when you get the vehicle from the dealer where you plan to have it serviced for maintenance or any problems. (before the sale, ask your agent to introduce you to her favorite mechanic/specialist in their service section) - Based from experience - the personal touch, plus "complaints" that you got the unit specifically from their branch precisely since they have a service section, helps ensure better service.

- Second, I'd rather pick the unit up. That way you can "test" the unit for any defects right off the bat (meaning on the drive home). Also, less hassle if during your inspection before accepting the unit, you notice any cosmetic problems (minor scratches, lack of certain freebies, etc) that you're still at the casa.

2. How would I check if the unit I will be purchasing is the 2011 model?

- While I'm not familiar with the specific upgrade (if any) on the City for 2011 - the previous poster is correct - check the manufacturing stamps. Also, I assume you asked for the differences between 2010 and 2011 models before purchasing? Of course, check for those. If they say there aren't any differences, ask if they've received word of when changes will be made...although based on previous patterns, I believe the City will probably only receive a minor cosmetic upgrade sometime next year, when it reaches mid-cycle (the current body came out in 2009 I believe?)

Can't be of much help here - My father is a director of an insurance company, so I always get good rates/service from them . But the BPI insurance, while higher than some, isn't too high...and friends say they get good service from BPI when it comes to claims.
4. How fuel-efficient 2011 Honda City 1.3 S MT is?

My officemate loves his 2010 m/t 1.3 City for daily drives. You should get 10 to 12 km/l during your first month or so (break in time) - but should improve once broken in. Of course, It really depends on how you drive how fuel efficient you'll find the car to be. However, I wouldn't worry about it too much...the fact you're driving a 1.3 liter engine means you'll save a lot more gas than cars with bigger engines.

- A note on Hondas - I've always found them to be reliable and rugged. I drove a 1.5 LXI Civic for college, before moving on to other cars/brands when I started working (syempre, upgrade hehehe)...but I never sold it. After more than 13 years (aside from preventive maintenance i.e change oil, filter, checkups etc), its never had any major problems. Now, even though me and my wife have our own separate cars (plus a spare one for color coding days and weekend trips), I still keep the Civic around as a "spare" car. My brother keeps his 2002 City for the same reason.

when we were shopping for a new car about a month ago, the honda city, jazz & the accent were our choises

we ended w/ the Ford Fiesta, it's been fun ever since

just a suggestion though, it will be ur call at the end.

regarding insurance, try Fortune Care, Php20k for the Fiesta w/ AOG & 4k participation
