Ako na inatrasan, ako pa sinisingil!

I was on my way home today. Along Quezon Avenue (Elliptical-bound) near National Bookstore, I'm stopped in traffic. A white converted Hi ace van in front of me (same body as local '00 models) starts rolling backward in the traffic. I flashed my lights, pressed my horn. It stopped. When traffic moved, I decided it was safer to merge to the next lane so I signaled and moved going left a bit. When it was the van's turn to move after traffic had gone forward, it started to go backwards again! I honked, flashed, even got on my P.A.. As a last ditch I also moved back a bit (not too much as I may strike the vehicle behind). This was to no avail. The van hit me.

Then the van's driver comes out BLAMING ME and telling me that I HIT HIS VAN!!! Boy this is stupid. I got down from my vehicle also and told him that he's the one that hit me. But he just kept repeating the stupid Filipino rule that the one behind is always the one at fault (what can I do to avoid him, fly?). So the driver's boss comes out inspects the damage (nasty dent on the tailgate courtesy of my JAOS Bullbar).

I said I'm not mad because you hit me, I'm mad because your stupid driver is accusing me of something I did not do. The boss apparently did not know what to do. Wants to go through the hassle of going to the police, etc. The van is not even that nice even by Philippine standards.

So I just said, kanya-kanya na lang since there was no damage to my rig. She agreed, and we left the scene. Sorry I don't have pics or did not catch the license plate.

Thank you JAOS. Hopefully something beefier will be protecting my vehicle in the future. A 199 ORH steel bumper perhaps? biggrin.gif

P.S. I still hate that stupid Filipino rule of the one behind is at fault. This is one prime example that it is not always the case.

Mas tanga yung nakabangga sa akin minsan. Tawid ako ng Araneta Avenue heading towards SM Centerpoint. Maulan-ulan kaya madulas daan. Just after the intersection, merong left turn slot papasok sa SM. Biglang may pumasok na tricycle so preno ako bigla.

Yung L300 van na nakasunod sa akin, hindi naka preno on time. Tinamaan yung bumper ko sa likod. Baba ako at tiningnan yung bumper ko. Walang damage, konting gasgas lang ng pintura (matibay yung bumper ng Lynx. My foam sa loob kaya bumabalik kaagad). Yung L300 malaki yung damage, pasok yung harap niya.

Di ko na lang sana papansinin kasi hassle pa. Pero yung gagong driver, siya pa nagalit. Bakit bigla daw akong pumreno? Ang damin pang sinasabit at nagmumura pa! Aba tarantado!

Hindi ko na pinatulan. Sinenyasan ko na lang yung pulis sa kanto, pinakita ko sa kanya nangyari. Pinagsabihan niya yung driver na kasalalanan niya. Tapos tinanong ako kung anong gusto kong mangyari. Sabi ko gusto ko ipa-repaint yung buong bumper para mawala yung gasgas. Samahan niyo kako kami sa pinakamalapit na talyer para ma ipa-estimate natin. Kulang kako tatlong libo diyan. Payag naman yung pulis.

Biglang nagbago yung driver ng L300. Sorry ng sorry. Nagmamaka-awa yung loko. Kung anu-ano pinagsasabi -- naghihirap daw siya, etc. etc. Pero di ako pumayag. Sabi ko sa kanya, kung di niya ako tinaasan ng boses, di ko na sana papansinin. Pero dahil sa sinimulan niya, itutuloy ka na.

Anyway, sa madaling salita, tumawad siya ng tumawad. Nang mag offer siya ng P1,000.00, pumayag na ako.

Noong makabayad siya, bigla nang umalis yung loko. Tawanan kami noong pulis. Binigay ko yung P500 sa pulis para pang merienda. Pag uwi sa bahay, kinuha ko yung stock ko na pintura pang retouch tapos dinaan ko sa talyer ng kaibigan ko yung kotse para magawa. Wala pang isang oras, ayos na yung pag pintura. Binigyan ko lang ng P500, ayos na. Parang walang nangyari.

May parehong aksidente sa Buendia Makati. Traffic sa Makati Avenue. Yung katabi kong kotse sa kaliwa, yung driver may ginagawa. Napansin ko umaatras na sya. Nakita ko yung driver ng dyip sa likod nya nakatingin sa iba. Ako na ang bumusina!

Kablag! Bumanga na yung kotse sa dyip. Nagulat yung kotse driver at bumabang galit na galit sa dyip driver. Bababa sana ako para sabihin na sya ang may kasalanan. Kaso biglang nag-go, iniwanan ko na sila.

Napag isip-isip ko tuloy na bilhin yong mini car video recorder na nakita ko sa singapore na pwede lagay sa dash board to serve as evidence sa mga cases na tulad nito at iba pang kalokohan na pwedeng gawin sa isang sasakyan. Pwede power up ng battery o using the car power outlet and with 2GB of memory.

Dito sa Baguio kapag going uphill di talaga dapat tutukan yung nasa harap mo. Maga-apply talag yang law na yan kapag naatrasan ka. Nangyari sa akin yan. Napilitan akong mag-full stop uphill. As in matarik talaga. Yung taxi sa likod ko tumutok. So nung paarangkada na ako umatras ng kaunti kotse ko at nabanga ko yung taxi. Umurong yung bumper nung taxi. Galit yung taxi driver. Kasalanan ko daw dahil umatras ako. Sabi ko wala akong kasalanan dahil maikli lang yung inatras ng kotse at natural na mangyayari yun dahil uphill nga at manual pa yung tranny ko. In short, bingyan ko na lang siya ng 100 pesos para ipaayos yung na-damage sa bumper nya. Out of consideration lang. Yung rear bumper ko natuklap lang yung pintura.

That law is not just exclusive to Manila. Here in California whoever is behind is at fault. Stupid law, I agree! Kaso sometimes people suddenly switch to reverse. Twice or thrice nangyari na sa akin, somebody in front decided they wanted to go backwards. Buti na lang alert ako and I honked my horn. Supot ang stock horns, buti may Bosch Europas na ako. Pero wala rin magagawa pag bingi ang driver. Pays to keep the distance na lang.

You should have told her to teach her driver how to drive properly, or sack him.
