Last Christmas season my mom asked me to run over to the supermarket to buy some stuff. The place was packed with people doing last minute shopping, even the parking spaces were full, except for one slot which was vacant. Unfortunately, the 2 cars on both sides of the empty slot, were parked haphazardly, one of them was parked almost diagonal, with the front part of the car intruding into the empty slot, the other car was parked in a similar fashion, seeminlgly following the other vehicle. I had no choice but to squeeze in, and park in the same manner - diagonally. When I got back after 30 minutes, one car beside mine was gone already, and there was this Nissan Sentra which was trying to get into the now vacant slot. As I was about to enter my car, the Sentra's horn blared so loud, a young man, probably in his early 20's stepped out and started shouting and cursing at me, drawing attention from the people around. He was berating me for my bad parking. I told him I was sorry as the cars beside mine were parked in that manner so I had no choice but to follow. He continued shouting and pointing at me. What irked me most was when he called me stupid, and said I shouldn't even have a license. So I shouted at him to shut up as I was leaving anyway, he then went near my door and shouted "P.I. mo, ano gusto mo?" I was on my way out of my car when a shopowner intervened, and asked him to shut up, and he also asked me to just leave. If not for the shopowner, I would have whacked the hot tempered guy's face with my pistol to teach him a lesson in respecting elders.

a piece of advice...just follow the line..and let them suffer for thier own cause.. kse pag-nagpapark ako sa diagonal / / parking area..and may nag park ng butt facing at na tsempohan sa tabi nila ako pwepwesto..and I still try to park the way it should.. at hayaan mo sila mahirapan paglabas..

As Pu**y mentioned, just don't try to park the same haphazard way as the car beside you. To do that, either insist on parking properly or just wait until another spot becomes available.

As for whacking the hot-tempered guy's face with your pistol, what would that have accomplished? Malamang na lalo lang kayong hindi irespeto ng tao na yun, kahit ba mas nakatatanda kayo sa kanya. Shopowner or no shopowner, it was encumbent on you to exercise more restraint, especially since (A) supposedly eh mas matanda kayo sa kanya, (B) you were carrying a firearm as opposed to his verbal weapons, and (C) there were no manifested physical threats to your person. Had you hit him first, you would have been in the wrong. As it is, it was a good thing that you were still able to control yourself.

We often put forth the misconception that elders are automatically entitled to respect. Remember that respect does not come with age, it comes with character. Higit sa matatanda, mas karapat-dapat iukol ang paggalang sa mga taong may pinagkatandaan.

I may have to disagree with this. when we were in Boracay last year, nag-reserve yun kaibigan ng table sa Andok's D'Mall then pila kami. while we were close to being served, galit na galit lumapit kaibigan ko kasi may umupong grupo ng 40's women. inagaw nila yun table na ni-reserve namin.

what's the lesson of the story? nun nakita ko sila pagod na pagod, hindi na ako nakipag-away. mas matanda sila mas mahina ang katawan compared sa 'tin. they could be our parents ... so yun ganun na lang. not much but I learn something that day: respect for elders.

I know that you are frustrated because I see that you parked your car in the middle of the lane, while the VIOS was parked diagonally. However, had there been any difference if you had turned your car the other way? I see an EXIT sign there in one of the pics. Just a thought. I share the same frustration with you as I make sure that I park properly.
