Dito sa US lahat halos may sensor sa ilalim ng asphalt kaya pag may sasakyan, they can sense it and will let them pass pag walang tumatawid.

Para sa pedestrian yung stoplight na yun.

The stoplights which were once for intersections that were since closed and replaced by U-turn slots are, to me, more dangerous. Vehicular traffic will most likely not slow down or stop since many know that the intersection has been closed to traffic. And with the pedestrian not having the right of way in the Philippines, many will go through such lights with more fear of being bumped from behind instead. Stoplights along c5 are like these. Other stoplights like on Quezon Ave are confusing. There is no intersection anymore, there is no provision for a pedestrian crossing, yet the stoplight still functions as if any of these two are still present.

To rid us of all the confusion, I would rather the cities make use of their stoplights - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Some cities turn them off at night. Which to me, is more dangerous, since every one will now force on each other each one's right of way. And many night time drivers have less logic and reasoning skills at this time of the day. Now, these same cities should no longer make use of these stoplights if the intersection has been closed and replaced by U-turn slots. For pedestrian traffic, over/under passes should be built/used. If it cannot be helped, then clearer signages and stoplights specifically for pedestrian purposes should be used and enforced. Again, information dissemination and enforcement are key.

Wala yatang pedestrian lane doon M2.

Oo nga, they appear to be just intended for suggestion.

yeah, PUVs see stoplights as guides or mere suggestions. they see the red light, the look around and see that the road is clear, and they make a run for it. to them, there is no absolute stop. what's worse is, the people supposed to enforce traffic rules and regulations allow them to do it. with the way that they acknowledge these lawbreakers, they're either friends with them or even closer.

the stoplight at amorsolo cor herrera is also a prime example of double standard law enforcement. cops will wait for you to beat the red light and apprehend you near pharaoh and mcdonalds. but they will allow jeeps to swerve from the right most lane, turn left while the light is red.

AFAIK, the reason why these cops turned a blind eye everytime these puv's beat the red light or any other violation is because may "daily/weekly allowance" sila from these puv's. Most places ganito talaga nangyayari, cops will only apprehend private vehicles or selective apprehension. OO nga pala, there is a violation of beating the red light, but is there a violation of beating the yellow light?assuming nakatawid ka na bago mag red?

    +1.

these are the instances where i think that the U-turn slots did more harm than good. the slot on the soutbound lane is a bottleneck at any time of the day. why? well jeeps swerve from the right side of the lane to make the U-turn at the last possible moment. cars coming from the north wanting to go past the slot have to swerve from left to right to avoid these jeeps. and there's a(n inutile) MMDA traffic enforcer at that slot during rush hours just standing there, doing nothing.
