just want to ask if ano ba talaga ang gamit ng hazard light?

ginagamit ko kasi if talagang nagmamadali ako, yung tipong "snake driving ka na sa daan" para umabot ka sa pupuntahan ko. tama ba na gamitin ko ito para sa ganoong sitwasyon???

If you are a hazard to other motorists you must leave them on.

But seriously, if you are immobilized on the street which otherwise would've been flowing freely, e.g. stopped for a flat tire, car died, accident, turn it on, so people can be alerted of the "hazard" and take appropriate action - iwasan ka or mag slow down if someone's doing work on your car.

On your use when "snake driving ka na sa daan", try leaving early so you can be on time. Baka ma-aksidente ka pa sa ginagawa mo. Paalala lang naman. Gamitin mo na lang yan pag papunta kang ospital dahil manganganak na ang misis mo or may kailangang dalhin sa ER.

    thank for the advice sir.

actually, 1 every 100 ko lang naman ginagawa yan, kung kinakailangan lang. kaso kanina, aga na namin pos may magagaling na tao na sa gitna pa nag-rambolan kaya it cost me around 5 - 10 mins delay dahil dun. so kailangang ko ng mag madali kasi ma lelate na si mrs sa work. it happens 5:30 am, by that time hindi pa naman ganung kadami sasakyan. sa mga nalampasan ko po kanina, PASENSYA PO!!!

kung matter of life death like kailangang may dalhin sa hosp. pero
kung personal at para lang wag ma-late? pwede, pero at risk ka nyan
even ambulance complete with sirens and signages naa-aksidente.

    during break down SOP talaga.

    Correct! :D

    I also use it when:

    Whenever i pose danger
Stopping in what seems to be a danger zone
    Crossing the street
    Reversing
Completing a U-Turn (i use the Left Signal on approach first).

I also turn on my headlights at 5:30pm or when i notice it's about to get dark already.

Why? I assume all the other drivers are idiots (and/or have poor eyesight) since i can't ID who is and isn't an educated driver. Hehe. Luckily, i was proved wrong a couple of times, there are indeed a number of intelligent drivers out there. I hope the number grows. I hope one day, we can all rise and kill the uneducated drivers (figuratively speaking ha!!). hehehe

I've driven without license for 6yrs prior to my first license and was never caught because i'm so afraid to be flagged down. I guess in a wrong way, it helped me drive carefully. LOL

gamit ko lang yan pag "hazard" talaga ang sasakyan ko like...
    - car stalled in the middle of the street
    - making a u-turn on a 2-way street.
    - slowing down to stop on the side of the road when there are a lot vehicles behind me, like always sa congressional after making a u-turn e bahay na ng ermats ko so i need to stop, e mabilis mga cars dun
    - parked on the side of a highway
    - leaving my car parked on the side of the road on a bend. sa congressional din yan, pag hinahatid ko daughter ko e paliko un road di kita agad kung may naka=park sa side, so on ang hazard.

i only used it once driving fast, during an emergency while rushing my uncle to heart center cause he was having a heart attack. and i even had a sign on the front windshield na "medical emergency". ok naman, when i pointed to the sign people gave way. one motorcycle policeman even escorted us all the way to the heart center. which reminds me, i need to make another one cause i lost the sign.

imho, hindi justified na gamitin ang hazard lights dahil lang late ka na sa pupuntahan mo. it does not make an exception for you nor is it fair to other drivers. pagbibigyan ka nila kasi late ka? naaah!

Whoaa! rainy days are here again.. while traversing the Skyway last Friday (bet. 1-2pm) during a heavy downpour, it REALLY PISSED ME OFF, those drivers using their hazard lamps. this really confuses everyone, what's the real emergency or not.

For me, its enough that i keep my park light on during the initial downpour and put on my lights (lowbeam) if downpour becomes heavier.

Yep. Hazard lamps are for stationary vehicles only. If the weather is that sever, dont drive. Pull over and wait it out.

One of my driver always switch on the hazard light when parking or backing. Is this a good practice?

on this part, i am sometimes guilty. na-minimize ko itong practice when i drove our visiting american colleague around the city, and uttered WTF u're doing man, confusing bet your backing out intention w/ hazard light... pero i reasoned out na rin na hindi talaga kadalasan nirerespeto ang umaatras pag pure reverse light lang... on a side note, this is more debatable than using it during heavy downpour. peace.

Yes, I'm not sure if this is a good practice or required whenever you are doing reverse/backing in your vehicle.

Nakita niyo na naman siguro kung gaano ka-poor ang visibility during heavy downpour parang kanina, does that mean that a rear fog light is necessary already? I mean... yep, hindi man fog.. but I have had several encounters where cars became more visible when they have their RFLs on rather than just having their tail lights lit up. Dati sobrang lakas talaga ng ulan tapos close to 0% visibility na, the cars with their RFLs aided me to spot them easier than the ones who doesn't have them.

Mahal, but I guess it's now safe to assume that the price you pay for is already worth it?

andyan na yan, daming naghahazard on heavy rains, pero sana common sense lang, wag kang magchange line on hazard or liliko. if you must patayin mo hazard mo muna then signal light.
