Ang di ko maintindihan, after the strong typhoon and the talks about taking the billboards down, lalo pa sila nagdadagdag ng billboards sa MRT stations. Traffic tuloy sa EDSA nothbound kasi may malaking crane na nakaharang because they're putting up new billboards. Sa Cubao, North Ave. and Ortigas yun may nakaharang na crane.

quirino avenue - nagtahan intersection.

ilang beses na ako na trapik dito , usually gabi , after 9 PM
ang dahilan ? PNP Checkpoint.

i totally agree with the concept of checkpoints ... it's for the common good. pero sana naman piliin naman nila kung saan ilalagay yung checkpoint ... at magbigay ng advanced warning signs.
delikado kasi itong checkpoint na ito kasi if you are travelling from quirino avenue to nagtahan , you need to turn left at the three or four way intersection na ito where they located the checkpoint. walang ka warning warning na meron palang checkpoint pag liko mo so madalas na nagkadisgrasya dyan ... ang hirap pa nito ay ang mga pinapahinto ay yung mga naka motorbike so pag sinalpok sila sa likod ng kotse ... malaking damage.
and another contributing cause to the traffic jam is that the flyover from quirino avenue to the new santa mesa bridge ay nakasara , so lahat ay kailangan dadaan sa nagtahan. we spent millions on pesos on this new bridge tapos isasara lang.

MMDA warns of seven more days of heavy traffic

By JEFFERSON ANTIPORDA, The Manila Times Reporter

Motorists and commuters will have to endure heavy traffic for at least seven more days, the time it takes the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Metro Manila Development Authority to tear down the billboards on EDSA.

MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando said he is appealing to the public to bear with the inconvenience. He explained his agency is getting numerous complaints, but the operation must continue, saying the government cannot afford to lose the momentum.

The DPWH and the MMDA have been at work since Monday. The President had ordered the billboards removed after some of the giant outdoor advertising signs topped over at the height of the typhoon and caused damage to private and government property. At least one man was killed when one of such structures fell on his car.

To ease traffic during rush hours, the MMDA is fielding additional traffic enforcers in the area. It is also stopping the operation at 5 p.m., when traffic on the heavy starts building up.

Still, the public can expect the inconvenience to continue. The MMDA and the DPWH will also block some portions of the highway this weekend to give way to the operation. Apart from billboards, the combined will also remove signs on lampposts, overpasses and waiting sheds.

MMDA to close Cubao underpass for rehab

Motorists passing through the underpass of Cubao intersection in Quezon City are advised to take alternate routes in preparation for the asphalt overlay this weekend.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said that both lanes of the underpass on EDSA will be closed to trafficstarting 10 p.m. Friday.

Cora Cruz, MMDA assistant general manager for planning, said the northbound and southbound lanes of the underpass will be reopened to traffic on Saturday morning. Motorists, however, should still expect a rough ride, she added.

Cruz said that the road will be scraped in preparation for the overlay at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Asphalt overlaying is scheduled to be finished Sunday. Cruz said the underpass will be reopened to traffic as soon as the asphalt dries.

Those heading south should take North Avenue, East Avenue, Ramon Magsaysay area, Aurora Boulevard, West Avenue and Monte de Piedad in Quezon City.

The MMDA has earlier closed the underpass’ southbound lane last weekend to enable maintenance crews to place concrete blocks to keep vehicles in line to help maintain smooth traffic flow.

TULLAHAN Bridge in MacArthur Hiway will be closed to traffic!

Motorists, commuters and residents that will be affected by the closure on Monday of the Tullahan Bridge on McArthur Highway at the boundary of Valenzuela City and Malabon, denounced Saturday the rerouting plan of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) that is expected to result in a monstrous traffic jam in the affected areas.
The motorists, particularly the drivers of buses, jeepneys and other passenger vehicles expect the alternative routes offered by the MMDA and the local traffic officials were not properly inspected and road obstructions were not cleared in the congested sidestreets that might not accommodate the heavy volume of vehicles that will make a detour when the Tullahan Bridge is closed for repairs on Monday.
"We are really running out of time but we will know on Monday, during the dry-run the effect of the rerouting plan," Marlon Fortich, deputy chief of MMDA’s traffic unit in northern Metro Manila, told The STAR.
Fortich said that the scheme is not yet final and could still change depending on the result of the trial run on Monday.
Emerito Santos, president of Pinag-Isang Samahan ng mga Tsuper and Operators Nationwide (PISTON) in Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela (CAMANAVA) area, expressed doubts over the effectiveness of the rerouting plan.
He said the MMDA should clear all road obstructions and deploy more traffic enforcers in the alternate routes to keep traffic flowing smoothly. "We will know on Monday," he said.
The MMDA bared recently alternative routes on the closure of Tullahan Bridge, the main link at the boundary of Malabon and Valenzuela that connects Metro Manila and Bulacan.
Affected motorists are advised to observe the following re-routing schemes:
All northbound vehicles coming from Caloocan City north side must take Gov. Pascual St., then turn right to M. H. del Pilar St. to Yakal St., right to Gov. Santiago St. or straight to M.H. del Pilar St. towards destination, while light vehicles could take Victoneta Ave. then turn left to Vine street to Pio Valenzuela street towards destination.
Those coming from Caloocan City west side and Malabon City must take M.H. del Pilar St. to Yakal St., then turn left to Gov. Santiago St. or straight ahead to M.H. del Pilar St. towards destination.
Vehicles coming from Quezon City east side and EDSA must take M.H. del Pilar St. to Yakal street, then left turn to Paso de Blas/Maysan Road towards destination or right turn at L. San Diego St., left at F. Lazaro St. to T. Santiago St. towards destination.
All southbound vehicles en route to Caloocan City west side and Malabon City must take McArthur Highway, right to Gov. Santiago to Yakal, then left to Gov. Pascual towards destination or take M. H. del Pilar to Yakal street towards destination.
All vehicles on north side could take McArthur Highway, right turn at Gov. Santiago to Yakal, left turn at Gov. Pascual towards destination or take M. H. del Pilar to Yakal, right turn at Gov. Pascual towards destination. Light vehicles must take McArthur Highway, left turn at Pio Valenzuela to Vine street to Victoneta Avenue towards destination.
All vehicles toward EDSA, Quezon City or on east side must take McArthur Highway, left turn at T. Santiago to F. Lazaro, turn right at L. Santiago, left turn at Paso de Blas then right turn at Malinta Exit towards destination or take McArthur Highway, left at Maysan Road to Paso de Blas, right turn at Malinta Exit towards destination or take McArthur Highway, left turn at A. Pablo street to Gen. T. de Leon towards destination.
The traffic rerouting scheme would last for about 150 days or until the Tullahan Bridge reconstruction project would be completed in August.
