Avoid Binondo area, lots of diggings by Maynilad. I think they're repairing their whole pipeline and Binondo is severely affected... super dooper heavy traffic congestion. WTF!!!

Here's something i observed the past couple of weeks. Around 3-4PM in the afternoon, weekdays, that area in front of SM Megamall/Highway 54 southbound always seems to become a 'bus terminal' causing huge traffic jams. After you pass that area, and into the Crossing underpass, traffic will again move very fast . I really don't understand since at around 5:30PM onwards, traffic would be back to 'normal' flow.
Something to keep in mind and avoid, if you can.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY: TODAY (May 31, 2007)
To all peeps passing thru EDSA-Ortigas, there will be a Marian Procession to be held at EDSA Shrine. Around 50 images are lined-up for the procession which will start at 6:00pm.
Please expect heavy traffic, and if you can, avoid the said area and look for other alternate routes.
Procession Route would be: EDSA-Corinthians-Green Meadows-C5-Ortigas (IPI)-back to Shrine
Thanks to my brod who texted this info, he is part of the organizing group for this event.

For people who go to Makati via Manila:
KAMAGONG ST. (from Sampaloc St. to Toyota Bel-Air) is undergoing roadworks. One lane is open to traffic though so expect heavy traffic especially during office hours.
The DPWH has started digging up the area near the center of Urdaneta City, Pangasinan in connection with their long-running road-widening project. Traffic along MacArthur Highway in Urdaneta is therefore horrible during rush hour and weekends. Avoid if possible.

Scary.
No wonder traffic was so bad at C5 yesterday.
3 injured in road crash on C5 McKinley in Taguig | ABS-CBN News
3 dead, 5 injured in Tagaytay car crash involving drunk teen driver
It's apparent that it was a head-on collision, maybe ~50% offset. It's just sad that none of the 3 occupants in the Corolla survived. On the other hand, all 5 occupants of the Livina just sustained some injuries. DUI is the primary cause.
It's unclear if the occupants in either vehicles were wearing restraints. The sedan's cabin seems intact, but if none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts, any collision over 30kph can be fatal. But if both vehicles were doing highway speed, say, conservatively at 60kph, the approach speed will be twice that or at 120kph. Yeah, it's essentially like hitting a wall at 120kph... imagine that! I think news sources should mention whether or not everyone involved were wearing safety restraints. I think that's newsworthy, at the least, to serve as a lesson, aside from just focusing on the Livina driver's DUI.
There were potentially 4 lives that were lost in that crash.... including the unborn child.

May mga poste pa sa gitna Ng Daan. Hindi pa nalipat Ng electric company doon being it a new road and all. 🙄
Btw, I think that's a Nissan Lavina, not an avanza.
The livina's driver belt looks to be fastened at time of the accident(1:48) but the driver doesnt' seem to be wearing the actual belt(probably fastened only to cancel the warning chimes) as the belt is flushed against the seat and the rescue personel didnt seem to have touched nor cut the belt to get the driver out(0:36). Atleast some of its rear occupants are unbelted as the driver's collapsed seat looks similar to the IIHS tests comparing belted/unbelted rear passengers.
The early model (XL/XE? given the door cards) bigbody corolla had no rear seatbelts to begin with. The driver-side seatbelt is also fully retracted and intact(1:00) although i doubt it being utilized would have helped much given how far back and up the steering column moved.
I can't be certain but I am quite convinced that everyone in the Livina likely were wearing their seatbelts (plus SRS airbags). I think the Livina at least had seatbelt pre-tensioners or some other electronic or pyro-type mechanism which are single use... jamming the belt in place after being triggered. That might explain it not being fully retracted after the fact.
If the passenger cabin of the Corolla collapsed, that would've been an argument towards older vs newer passenger cabin safety design. But since it was mostly intact... the A-pillar, roof, floor, and doors, I'm almost certain that none of the passengers, at least those in front, were restrained.

The single-use nature of the livina's belts is actually what's making me suspicious since if it were worn the rescue personnel would have to at least unbuckled the belt and set it aside to free the occupants so it should have been left dangling to the side fully slack from the extra length of belt that previously held the occupants body if it were worn properly. In the accident vehicle though the driver's seat(and only that seat) still has the belt tight against the seat in a position that seems to suggest the belt is still buckled.
The front seats' outward twist and general level of collapse(relative to the extent of body structure collapse sustained by the accident vehicle and standardized tests of a newer generation livina (which had alot more collapse in the A pillar area)) seems to suggest to me the passengers were also unbelted or the rear belts/front seats of the accident livina is defective/inadequately specced.

A bad accident happened today across our office along Shaw, Pasig. A biker tried to avoid a van that was parked along the bike lane and ended up getting hit by a Montero (nagulungan). Tsk tsk
