I agree with CVT..your way of thinking is really unique.

As for the lack of taxi lanes...simply because there isn't a fixed route for them to follow, unlike buses or jeepneys that ply a route...but we're not talking about routes here...we are talking about designated lanes for MC within the metropolis.

My other observation...have you ever heard or seen any "indian/s" figure in a traffic accident involving an MC on the TV? Not me...and I can tell you from my observation that they guys that drive MC's with turbans on their heads do so with more discipline than most of the MC riders that I encounter on the road. Di kasi sila abusado and mayabang pag nag-drive ng MC nila...they use it for business and leisure...but in a disciplined manner.

As for your "dynamic" driving reasoning...maybe that is why a lot of MC riders counterflow...zig/zag in-between lanes, overtake on the wrong side...use the sidewalk, cross over pedestrian lanes etc...because of that "dynamic" driving way of thinking.

I'm praying that you don't end up as a smear on top of asphalt because of your driving style

you know what.. you just cemented my reasoning of "dynamic" routing-- but you inserted a new topic altogether.

I was asking for the existence of taxi lanes (which there are none) as an analogy why a motorcycle lane WILL NOT WORK.

you just gave the reason why motorcycle lanes would not work: simply because there isn't a fixed route for them to follow, unlike buses or jeepneys that ply a route

shoot yourself on the foot while you think about what I mean by "dynamic" versus "static" route (static applies to buses and jeeps with FIXED routes).

now in your introduction of a new topic, the answer to that is (drum roll) law enforcement.

as with the motorcycle lane experiment that occurred this JANUARY 25, 2011 along commonwealth, the MMDA themselves canceled it for the very same reason you mentioned: simply because there isn't a fixed route for them to follow, unlike buses or jeepneys that ply a route

    teka nga muna..

for those that keep on suggesting a separate motorcycle lane in metro manila, why is it that here in the provinces where there are only two lanes of opposing traffic; cars, buses, jeeps, tricycles, and single motorcycles coexist better compared to there in metro manila?

sa commonwealth avenue there are (how many is the most?) 8 to 9 lanes? it should be easier to drive/ride in metro manila because traffic is going in only one direction and you guys have so many lanes; but that is not what is happening.

hmm.. maybe the majority of motorists [in metro manila] do not want to share "their" lanes.

i would have to agree that setting up a lane for MCs will be very hard to implement and enforce. it will also introduce a lot of road inefficiencies. have you ever noticed how the bus lanes "waste" usable road? even if there are no buses plying, cars can't use them. and buses disregard them when it suits them.

the volume of vehicles also make it very hard to enforce laws. if you put yourself in the shoes of the traffic enforcer -- who do you go after first? at any given second, 10 to 20 vehicles are violating road rules within eyesight. at a stoplight -- when MCs crowd the front of the queue and/or simply ignore the lights -- hirap mag focus kung sino unahin apprehend.

my take is we limit cars, MCs, buses altogether. painful -- but i think necessary. when there is a controlable number -- it would be much easier to enforce laws.

mc lanes are IMPOSSIBLE due to the traffic road system in place. ni hindi nga masagot paano papasok ng fly over ang motorcycle-- don't tell me that a motorcycle will HAVE to cross over 2 to 3 lanes of traffic from the designated motorcycle lane just to go up a fly over.

about apprehension.. it is better to DO apprehensions regardless of who goes first. if motorists know that enforcement is strictly (and fairly) implemented in an area, they follow the law. but if they know that the traffic enforcer is there simply for decoration purposes, who gives a d*mn about traffic rules?

there are plenty of rules and regulations but we have impotent traffic enforcers. worse is the lagay system (kotong).

uhm. correction lang ha. useless ang motorcycle lane LALO NA KUNG WALANG ENFORCEMENT.

no offense, pero maraming "sana" na nanatiling "sana" na lang. political will is severely lacking in this country eh. i hope it changes. i really do. until that happens -- i would be very hesitant in introducing complex lane schemes. sayang lang ang gastos for something that is impossible to enforce.

Too many PASAWAY motorcycle RIDERS on the street
