A teenager became the latest casualty of car jackers who struck at BF Homes, Parañaque Sunday night.

Richard Capili, a 19-year-old nursing student, was shot dead by three men who also took the van he was driving. SPO1 Generoso Partolan said the incident took place inside the subdivision, in front of the LBC Landco Center Mall on Gil Puyat Street corner President’s Avenue, at around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Capili had parked in front of the mall to wait for his sister. As he sat inside his grey Toyota Revo (plate number WRY-883), three men boarded the van.

“According to witnesses, a scuffle ensued between the victim and the suspects. The victim might have resisted the suspects so he was shot,” Partolan told the Inquirer yesterday. Case investigator, P02 Tio Calvo said in his report that witnesses saw the suspects maul Capili before they heard a gunshot.

The teenager was able to get out of the car and cry for help. But one of the suspects, armed with a .45-cal pistol, shot him, the report said. The suspects then fled on board the victim’s car, leaving Capili slumped on the pavement, said Calvo. According to Remie, the victim’s father, his children had stopped at a grocery and a drugstore before going to a bookstore. “My daughter said she was already inside the bookstore when she heard gunshots. She saw her brother slumped on the pavement of the parking lot,” Remie said in a phone interview .

The teenager was brought to the Parañaque Medical Center but he was declared dead on arrival. He sustained a lone gunshot wound on his right armpit. The bullet passed through the arteries of his lungs before it reached his heart. Parañaque police chief Supt. Ronald Estilles said an artist’s sketch of one of the suspects had already been sent out to different police stations.

The way the wound was described, it looks fatal on the spot.

Kailangan ata ngayon naka body armor ka na rin.

Meron din sigurong lesson dito for drivers:

    1) When you are parked inside your car, always lock the doors immediately. Or better yet, never stay inside the car.
    2) Sigurado kakatukin ka if you are inside, just open a small gap on your window to talk to the stranger.
    3) If you see the suspect pulls out a weapon, attract attention by pressing your horn non-stop.

So mukhang hindi nga carjacking? Granting it was before 6 PM so medyo maliwanag pa.
Sa dami ng merong cellphone ngayon, meron kayang tumawag kagad sa Police 117 para na-corner sana kagad yung suspect.

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna -- (UPDATE) A suspected carjacker allegedly behind the killing of a nursing student in Parañaque was killed in a shootout with police while his four companions were arrested Tuesday morning in the northern province of La Union.

The stolen vehicle of nursing student Richard Capili was recovered in Sto. Tomas town, in La Union on Wednesday, reports reaching the Parañaque police said.

Chief Superintendent Prospero Noble, chief of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police, identified the slain suspect as Esteven Liwanag.

The police withheld the names of the four arrested persons.

Capili, 19, was shot dead by three gunmen in front of a mall on Gil Puyat Street corner President’s Avenue, at around 6:30 p.m. last Sunday. They took the gray Toyota Revo van the student was driving.

Senior Superintendent Aaron Fidel, intelligence chief of the Calabarzon police, said they were conducting operations in La Union after receiving information that a group of carjackers was about to sell a stolen silver Toyota Revo from Cavite. He said the information they got was that the vehicle belonged to a certain Maribeth Legado.

The vehicle was flagged down at the national highway in Patac village, Sto. Tomas, La Union around 2 a.m. on Wednesday. The four arrested suspects were inside the vehicle.

Fidel said Liwanag was with three other men on board the suspects’ backup vehicle, a maroon Toyota Revo, which avoided the checkpoint after noticing that their companions were arrested.

Fidel said Liwanag’s group fired at the policemen, triggering a shootout. A running gunbattle ensued for a few minutes. The vehicle was abandoned by the suspects about 400 meters away from the checkpoint.

Liwanag, who was left behind in the vehicle, later died in a hospital. His three companions escaped.

Fidel said they later learned that the recovered silver Revo, which bore the plate number XCJ 218, was actually Capili’s (which had the plate number WRY 883).

He said the plate XCJ 218 belonged to Legado’s Revo, which has yet to be recovered.

Fidel said the recovered Revo was brown. However, the initial report of the Parañaque police on Sunday’s carjacking incident said Capili’s Revo was colored “black or gray.”

Capili had parked in front of a mall to wait for his sister when three men boarded the van. A scuffle ensued and the victim was shot, police said. With a report from Jocelyn Uy

mabuti at nahuli na ang mga suspects. dapat ang parusa sa kanila bitay na para hindi na dumami ang mga katulad nila.

dobleng ingat nalang tayo sa panahon ngayon.
