Taxi, inatrasan ka na, ikaw pa daw ang may kasalanan

Last Saturday, I was driving along Edsa near Guadualupe after a date with my girlfriend. It was around midnight but it was still bumper to bumper due to ongoing roadworks and buses. There was a taxi in front of me, an old big body toyota corolla. While I was not moving due to traffic, the old taxi slowly reversed and hit me despite me honking my horn repeatedly. I had blow the horn repeatedly before the driver went out. I then went out and checked my car for any damage. Surprisingly, there was no damage. Most of the blow was apparently absorbed by the tempered glass license plate cover.

I admonished the taxi driver for not minding that he was reversing. I think he got sleepy and lifted his feet off the brakes. Since there was a slight incline, his car started reversing. He then told me that he didn't do anything and that if there was any damage, it was my fault since I was at the rear. The nerve. Since there wasn't any damage and the traffic was bad. I just left things be and changed lanes because i think there was a problem with the driver and his car.

After a few moments, i noticed an old taxi had stalled and the cars behind him trying to change lanes.

It's not the first time that a car inadvertedly reversed on me. It happened 3 times to me before and any damage was absorbed by the glass plate since it is point of first impact in my car. The worse incident occured when the glass plate shattered and a civic's rear bumper clips gave way when a drunk driver tried to play stop and go in front of me.

madalas din mangyari sa kin to kapag bumper to bumper ang traffic, good thing wala din nagiging damage sa auto ko. para makaiwas sa mga ganito lalo na pag puv/puj ang nasa harap ko, medyo malayo ang ginagawa kong distance sa front bumper ko, pero pag mga high end na sasakyan ok lang idikit.. joke!! just give a proper distance para makaiwas sa mga ganitong aksidente and be prepare to blow your horn to remind the driver na medyo umaatras na sya.. baka in your case sir mahina ang busina nyo..

ganun talaga dito. kung nasa likod ka, ikaw lagi may kasalanan. kasi "illogical" naman daw na aatrasan ka, which actually happens. isa pang argument nila e dapat hindi ka nakatutok. ewan ko ba. sindakan lang kasi dito.

daming ganun na hindi namamalayang umaatras na sila. either tulog or akala lang e umaabante ang katabi. tapos kung bubusina or iilaw ka, akala lang nila e nagmamadali or mayabang ka.

anyway, usually maliit lang or wala namang damage kasi most times gapang ang galaw ng nasa harap mo. unless of course binigla nya pag atras or todo ang incline.

the best na lang gawin is always keep distance. you should at least see the wheels of the car in front of you even in "bumper to bumper" traffic para may allowance. hopefully yun din ang gawin ng nasa likod mo para may allowance ka rin umatras kung bingi yung sa harap mo.

another reason for having ample space in front of you is so you can change lanes in case masiraan yung nasa harap mo. para hindi ka na umatras pa. credit to experience na lang considering 4th time mo na to. lagyan mo na ng 1 car gap para sure hehehe

never pa naman sakin nangyari yun pero if the time comesm damn, babaliktarin ko din siya.

ingat lang sa road, especially sa mga public uses vehicles.

this taxi driver doesn't know what he's talking about...ang hirap pa eh baliktaran ka ba naman....style nila ito para makaiwas sa anumang sagutin sa mga madisgrasya nila...just what the others have posted...it's better to have a safe distance with puvs.

Konting distansiya lang solusyon dyan. Huwag didikit sa vehicle na nasa unahan mo. Ako ganyan ginagawa ko. Iwas problema pa.

naku naka dalawa na yata ang taxi sa akin... pag traffic tapos biglang preno, tapos siksikan, lahat gusto maka-una ayun sureball meron tatamaan, ano pa ba gagawin ng taxi driver kundi kamot ulo na lang... mabuti po at hindi nagasgas ang bumper ng car ko.. para matapos ang usapan, sige sibat na lang...

Minsan nangyayari din sa akin yan, taxi o kaya jeep sa harapan ko na unti-unting umaatras. Nadadaan naman sa busina, kaya hindi pa sumasayad sa bumper ko. Mas nakakatakot kung truck yan, especially on inclines, which happens pag pauwi ako.

May nabasa pa nga ako that you should still be able to see the ground beyond your hoodline when stopping behind another vehicle in traffic, to ensure ample room in case you need to maneuver around the other vehicle.
