I worked in the bureaucracy before.. and this is what I can say: a lot of these government employees are not really career service professionals, especially those in the local government units. many of them are really casuals or "consultants." A lot of these got work because of "godfathers" looking after them. And a lot of these people are really the more under-educated ones who will never be able to make it to good positions in the private world. Poor education, backward upbringing, no sophistication whatsoever. Then, give them a little "government authority" and what do you get? A goonverment employee.

Diba may kasabihan tayo na "Nobody is Above the Law"?

That guy's an *sshole.
He was doing that not because he's from the barangay but he has someone in higher position to back him up. Someone who's respected by the enforcers of Makati. I bet if he's caught driving without a license he would just signal to the TE and he will be immediately set off. No corrective measures to be implied or whatsoever.
If we could change that maybe, maybe not. It's a typical thing here on the Philippines. You be in a government position, be close to someone higher, do unnecessary and stupid actions and no one will even bother to stop you. Those freaks ( officials ) are biased to one another. Hindi sila talo, ika nga.

July 8th, 2011 01:04 AM #16*jave: I agree. His team leader did the apologizing and he even scolded him infront of me (although it might be a show). Still, barangay official man siya or hindi, he should've been accountable. Wow.
*ozcity: Yeap, what more yung mga nasa Congress :buh:
*miked: Yes. I think that's a good idea.
*vinj: I actually find these Barangay Officials useless. The only time I see them is when they have to block off roads because of fiestas. Other than that, wala na. Its like we're paying them to bum around and to be a**holes.
*KIANTOT and digitalron: No wonder why they're like that. Hindi ata nila alam that they are there to serve the people, kaya nga Public Servants. It's not something that you get into just so you can be above the law.
*renzo_d10: Exactly. One time when I was at an intersection along Espana, I saw this enforcer who blocked this car because he was on the lane that was supposed to turn left and he was going straight. Behind this car was a government vehicle who was also going straight but the enforcer let him pass, at sumaludo pa.

diba meron naman tayong tsikot.tv? why not also start from there. sana may mga mods na makabasa nito >__<
