Leg stretching inside SUV triggers Cebu tragedy
02/03/2007 | 10:28 PM
A female driver who stretched her weary legs inside her sports utility vehicle (SUV) that was parked in Mabolo village in Cebu City accidentally stepped on the accelerator, slamming the vehicle into a taxi and a passenger jeep before crashing into a house Friday night, police said Saturday. A woman was killed and two people were injured, police said.
The driver said she was waiting for her friend on L. Tudtud Street when she tried to exercise her legs. The two were on their way for a weekend night-out.
The screeching SUV slammed into a parked taxicab and then a passenger jeep before ramming the house of Zion Gabini. Gabini, who was sleeping inside her house, died in hospital due to severe injuries inflicted by the wayward vehicle.
The injured pedestrians were walking on the street when they were hit by vehicles that went out of control after being struck by the SUV. The driver surrendered to police.

i assume a/t yung SUV.. pano nangyari ito kung simpleng stretching lang ng legs. one thing is for sure, di sya naka handbrake while parked..

A case of "uncommon" common sense - not putting the gear into neutral and not applying the hand brakes while parked/stopped.

Stupid girl. It's standard procedure to put your tranny in P or N then footbrake to rest your foot. She would have known it's moving, why didn't she brake instantly?

at least she has the courage to admit her mistake and did not blame the accelerator or the brake of her car.
