APPARENTLY, the road was not big enough for the two policemen.
Senior police officer-2 Camilo I. Telanca, 53, and detailed at the Camp Crame national police headquarters in Quezon City, and police officer-2 Leo Angling, a member of the Presidential Security Group detailed at Malacaņang, exchanged blows Sunday after the two men collided on Pureza Street in Manila's Santa Mesa district.
Police officer-1 Alberto Saygo Jr. said Angling and Telanca had been walking from opposite directions on Pureza Street at around 10 p.m. When they bumped into each other, their tempers flared.
Saygo said Angling then introduced himself as a police officer, apparently to intimidate Telanca. But Telanca would not give way, being himself a police officer from Camp Crame.
The two lawmen bragged on until they came to exchange blows. Policemen from the nearby Station 8 arrived and broke up the fight between the lawmen.
Telanco and Angling were taken to the Western Police District headquarters, where their service firearms were confiscated.
Saygo said that while at headquarters, the two police officers decided to settle their differences out of court.
But Angling was made to promise that he would shoulder Telanco's medical expenses for the head wound the latter sustained in the fight, police said.
