Me and my dad was driving 30 or 40kph crossing the intersection when a mobile patrol which unfortunately I didn't get the plate flag us down so we stop knowing we didn't did any violation. I open my window and smile to the police and greeted him nicely and ask in a nice way if there is a problem. The police with the nameplate Florence replied "Sir bawal po ung plate cover nyo" So I smiled and replied "sir baka clear po ung plate cover ko and because I know na bawal ung mga cover na colored." He instead na may kulay daw ung cover. So I went don't and look at my plate... Then he insisted that tatangalin daw ung plate cover ko and check kung talagang may kulay and if kung meron they will get my license and tubusin ko daw ng 2500 sa makati city hall tomorrow. So sabi ko sige check nila kasi alam ko talaga wala color un. Then nung natangal na dinala nya ung cover sa mobile den compare sa iba pang na tangal na nila. kitang kita naman na iba ung color nung glass na sabi nila na smoke daw. U will notice dis pag ung smoke glass pinatong mo sa white background ng car nila ung white will be light green in color while ung plain will be plain. So I tried to debate with the cops pero syempre wala din nang yari police kasi eh ah kulang pala color blind na pulis pala dapat. Then un na tubusin ko na lang daw ung license ko sa makati hall at sabi pa "dahil mabait kayo kausap babaan ko na lang ung penalty niyo" imagine now ko lang na laman pwede pala bawas ung penalty depende sa police... from 2500 gagawin niya na lang daw 1500... and to make it short nang hingi na lang ng 500 ung police para d na daw kami ma istorbo... hayyyy ganito na ba talaga sa bansa natin? Now I know the feeling... Nakakasama ng loob kasi kalilinis ko lang ng plate ko kanina morning and the car. I do this every week para maganda ung car. Tapos sasabihin ng police d daw magbasa ung plate ko. Hayyy naku.... Lord overpopulated na po ang country namin sana po kuhanin niyo na sila...

Next time don't offer them anything. Ask them, "define colored plate cover" or better yet ask for an opacity meter or some other fancy name device. Kung wala sila, wala silang basehan for that...

the roof rack should also be registered with the LTO for it to be legal. kasama dapat sya sa OR ng registration ng car. Top Load ang tawag ng LTO dyan, and P100.00 lang naman ang fee.

Hindi dapat mag reklamo sa price kasi in the first place kung susunod lang wala naman babayaran.

I heard something about makati this moring from 2 guys chatting inside a coffeshop. I hope somebody can clarify this. Sabi nya sa makati daw pwede ka mag apply ng special pass para exempted ka sa coding. Is it true ba? ang sabi nya kasi pwede daw basta pay ka lang. D lang nila nasabi kung how much. Kaasar talaga ung mga cops dyan sa makati. 3x or more in a week ako sa makati nag pupunta for over a year now with my clear plate cover now lang nila pinansin. With almost every block of makati is covered by police how come I was never been flagdown b4. Siguro dahil ung mga police b4 is not color blind heehehe. Sana kuhanin na sila ni lord

Yes I know that, my point was that I don't see the point of having an additional fee to pay if you have a roof rack. It's like saying you have to add a certain fee if you have a tow hook, or an external spare tire. I mean, what's the point in that? Collectively that P100 will add up and they'll be happy again. Like I said it's "only" 100 Pesos pero it adds up given the number of AUV/SUV vehicles.

And what if it is part of your vehicle?

Haven't really seen a vehicle with the roof rack being part of it. Baka you mean roof rails yong part talaga(i.e. tow hook, spare tire carrier), which don't need to be registered. Roofracks/roof baskets like the ones made by Thule, etc. are the ones which need to be registered.

hitting your plate by a pedestrian will not cause much damage that simple pliers cannot fix..
