He is also expanding and renovating SM North Edsa by building a new annex and doing an all out facelift. This is in response to TriNoMa.
He gets financing from various institutional lenders all over the world to finance his projects. He then primarily uses his mall's rent income to pay them off at a later time.

June 22nd, 2007 09:18 AM #16i live just a block away, and i always take the road beside it everytime.

June 22nd, 2007 09:30 AM #17He owns BDO, Equitable-PCI, China Bank. He also has several publicly listed companies. He also gets money from institutional lenders from all over the world as previously mentioned. He is using other peoples money.
Even if his provincial malls does not make money, its still better for him to keep on building. He earns from the real estate value and it keeps his tax payments down. As long as he is building, he has a lot of expenses which he can use to lower his income tax and vat payments.

last weekend, i saw SM tagaytay constuction going on near the casino.
probably dahil very open ang area?

hahaha... this is so true. anyway, I had a chance to talk to some of the engineers of SM (the ones involved in non-mall related constructions), all I can say is they seem to be arrogant, they act as if they are gods. I was really surprised, completely opposite to the engineers and staff involved in the Trinoma who were all accomodating.
